Alternative Nonetheless

#1 Post by telys »

The number of b-sides and alternative tracks from each album-era is usually enough to fill an entire album. So far we have:

1. All the young dudes
2. Through you
3. Party in the Blitz
4. Clean air hybrid electric bus
5. No sense of time
6. If Jesus had a sister
7. It's not a crime
8. I've got plans
9. Loneliness (7'')
10. A new bohemia (demo/7'')

Good songs but not a great album.
I'd say this is the first time in PSB history that none of the b-sides have a sound that would fit them onto the main album.

1. Loneliness
2. I've got plans (involving you)
3. Why am i dancing?
4. New London Boy
5. Dancing star
6. A new bohemia
7. The schlager hit parade
8. If Jesus had a sister
9. Bullet for Narcissus
10. Love is the law

track 2 and 8 would diversify this album a lot more
Your life's a mystery, mine is an open book. If I could read your mind, I think I'd take a look.

You left off Living In The Past

I'd say you are wrong, "Sense of Time" and "If Jesus" are very album worthy and would have fit perfectly on the Nonetheless album. As well as the Superchumbo remix of "Party In the Blitz".

I totally agree, a completely dull track. Also “Sense of time” sounds off to me. It sounds like one of the tracks Neil wrote the words for first, then Chris composed the music around the words; they just don’t quite sync for some reason. “Clean air electric hybrid bus” was from the “Super” sessions and would have fit the “Lost” ep much better.

My "alternative" playlist for Nonetheless only has a few non-album tracks...

Love is the law
New London boy
Feel
Loneliness
Zero Hour
The secret of happiness
If Jesus had a sister
Why am I dancing?
A new bohemia (radio edit)
Dancing star (Solomun remix)
Through you (extended mix)

Three have been lots of great b-sides, but mostly sounding quite separate from the album this time. And side projects, collaborations and remixes. Really like Skydive, for example.
