I don't really have a problem with WAID apart from it doesn't really "go" anywhere. It just sort of exists. It's a bit like "Happiness" from Super in that respect. Inoffensive, tuneful, jolly even, but a single? No!daveid wrote: Tue 08 Oct 2024, 11:14 am There will be a fifth single or an EP. It probably won't be Schlager because of the demo being on Feel, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong. It's more likely to be Dudes or Adrenaline but could also be Love is the law. I really hope it isn't Why am I dancing? as it's the worst track on the album for me.
The fifth single

Re: The fifth single
The live version of Dudes didn't really add anything new to the song?
Lots of people have familiarity with the original. Their version doesn't have the same freshness they brought to No Name or On My Mind.

Maybe an EP or a double A-single?canveyboy wrote: Tue 08 Oct 2024, 10:52 am No way it’s gonna be Schlager when they already just released the demo for it and Chris did a video for the demo too. So to me that song is kind of done already. If they were going to release that as the next single then why already release the demo and a video for it - that kind of takes the edge off any potential single release I think. Over-saturation of one song.
My money is on Why Am I Dancing?

Re: The fifth single
All it boils down to is which of the new tracks is best serviced to Radio 2 for some airplay to promote the album re-issue. We have only heard the live version of Young Dudes and it would make sense in some ways for Radio 2 to go with that as it was born out of their radio show. I'm more interested in a couple more b-sides as they've been great this campaign.

Also, we haven’t had the video from which this photo was taken in January when Neil claimed they were busy shooting a video. Might this be from the 5th single’s music video?

Re: The fifth single
I'd love an extended Why am I dancing with more trumpets. I'm sure you're right that predictions of radio play/sales/downloads are a big (but not the only) part of the decision-making. Much as I love Schlager it won't be that; I mean it's an affectionate piss-take of German pop songs, not mistletoe and wine. No one's mentioned Bullet, which is a bouncy song. Is that really out of the running altogether because of you know? I reckon it'd get played though.

I thought that was from the ROH Dancing Star shoot? It's not necessarily a straight up screenshot from the video, or could have ended up on the cutting room floor.canveyboy wrote: Tue 08 Oct 2024, 3:52 pm Also, we haven’t had the video from which this photo was taken in January when Neil claimed they were busy shooting a video. It's from the Loneliness shoot, but it wasn't used in the music video. Instead, photos taken by Alasdair McLellan (the same director for Loneliness) were used for promotional purposes multiple times.canveyboy wrote: Tue 08 Oct 2024, 3:52 pm Also, we haven’t had the video from which this photo was taken in January when Neil claimed they were busy shooting a video. Greetings,

Thank you!canveyboy wrote: Tue 08 Oct 2024, 10:56 amWhen they posted on the OS that the CD single for Feel was released, the last sentence in the blurb was ‘Will there be a fifth single?’ - which is an obvious tease for one more release!retrofuturist wrote: Tue 08 Oct 2024, 10:39 am Do we know there actually is going to be a fifth single? This topic presumes there is, but I don't recall seeing any confirmation of this. If there is confirmation, could someone kindly point me/us towards it? Thanks!

Why am I dancing? is like ultra processed food. You initially think you like it, it tickles the right taste buds and triggers your memory of happy times, but it doesn't hold together, leaves you wanting more and is bad for your stomach lining. You'll be hungry for the real thing afterwards.

You are right. I dont like Why am I dancing? I dont understand why people like it as a single . It reminds me typical PSB song as Love is a bourg construct with poor quality. I would prefer New London Boy . Anyway I dont mind because I only want a 5th singke for Bsides.

Re: The fifth single
I feel the same way and I think a lot of people don’t know or forget that the original version of Why am I dancing? is a ballad. To me, it feels rushed, like the lyrics don’t fit the melody as well as they could. It’s missing something that I’m sure How did I get here? has but we won’t know until Naked is out. I have nothing against people who like the song or want it as a single, but personally, I just don’t see it. It doesn’t fully represent what Nonetheless is and just because some people find it ‘catchy’ or ‘poppy’ (so Radio 2 worthy) doesn’t mean it would make a good single. Every single so far has added something to the lore, but what would Why am I dancing? add? To me, not much, really.daveid wrote: Wed 09 Oct 2024, 12:30 am Why am I dancing? is like ultra processed food. I'm agree WIAD? is not as good as their anthemic tracks of the old days but the rest of the songs from the album are clear album fillers. Neither for Radio 2, nor for Christmas time either.
But "Schlanger" and "WIAD?" work fine for the typical songs you can listen those days on the radio but a good reworked and improved version is needed.
