Re: EE Advert
It’s at 92 on the ITunes Chart. I know that’s nothing to get excited about, but it shows interest in the song has already started

This song deserves much more than this. In fact, it was a hit but not as big as it deserved in 1988. The song is not even between the Top 10 of songs from PSB in Spotify. Listeners of Radio 2 gave the credit it deserved with the song in the Top 10 best songs from PSB.

Number four in the UK just before Christmas with a single that was from a recently released album.Nickname wrote: Wed 23 Oct 2024, 9:49 pm

Steve Wright having a jab at them when they appeared on Top of the Pops probably didn't help elevate it further up the charts. I don't usually speak ill of the dead but he really was a dick about them back in the day.Patrick Bateman wrote: Wed 23 Oct 2024, 10:40 pmNumber four in the UK just before Christmas with a single that was from a recently released album.Nickname wrote: Wed 23 Oct 2024, 9:49 pm

I got some satisfaction at the Radio 2 in the park, when a tribute video was played about him, just before a PSB Headline set. I just thought, that’s not what he would’ve wantedGabby wrote:Steve Wright having a jab at them when they appeared on Top of the Pops probably didn't help elevate it further up the charts. You've got to sympathise with him though. Being such an attractive man meant he spent his entire life being pursued by homosexual men who desired him. That's bound to make you slightly homophobic.PopKid78 wrote: Sat 26 Oct 2024, 8:10 am I got some satisfaction at the Radio 2 in the park, when a tribute video was played about him, just before a PSB Headline set. That's not bad for something people had to seek out from the background of a commercial.

Re: EE Advert
It was nice to see the ad in the cinema for the first time the other day. I sympathise with all the comments here - both positive and negative. But, if you forced me to say, I think it's a shame they ever agreed to it. At least EE is relatively ethical company - they aren't promoting junk food or online gambling. And perhaps we should be grateful it's the original version, not some twee acoustic concontion. It breaks my heart that Electric Dreams (in a cider ad) and Frankie's Power of Love (in a crisp ad) have been denigrated in that way.

Great point. The breathy cover versions drive me nuts.Kompakt&Bijou wrote: Tue 29 Oct 2024, 6:04 pm And perhaps we should be grateful it's the original version, not some twee acoustic concontion.
