How do you think a casual teenager guy or girl could react to PSB music?

It's not the same when you compare electronic pop music with jazz just because that was the music people used to listen 40 years before.

I agree. When Super came out my daughter (who was nearly 8 years old at the time) admitted that the songs were very in line with the current music she was listening to.

There are differences but not extreme enough to imply that PSB music would be any less relevant today than any other electronic music act. I find the lyrics maybe date them more than the music.

Well the big difference is that the electronic music created by the Boys is by 65-70 year olds. It is also waaay underproduced compared to the likes of Dua Lupa etc. So not comparable at all in the ears of a 17 yo.

West End girls seems to pop up on my teenagers TikTok feed quite often

Hello! I’ve noticed that most teenagers today are really into pop, indie, R&B, soul music and more genres. I used to be into those genres too, and I didn’t know much about Pet Shop Boys until recently. I remember hearing most of "West End Girls" and "Always on My Mind" and recognizing it as a cover of the Elvis song.

Now, at twenty years old, I’ve developed a real appreciation for PSB. My dad actually introduced me to their music at 6 years old probably; he and my mom even connected partly because of their shared love for their records, especially watching the music video for "So Hard" together.

Growing up, Pet Shop Boys was often on the local radio in Peru, along with other 80s and 90s records. I wasn’t that interested at first (I even thought they were twins—sorry!). Today, West End Girls is probably the song most familiar to people my age, but I try to introduce more people to their music at university. They sometimes tease me for bringing up the Boys so much, but I like to think I’m just helping refine their taste

I regret missing the Super Tour because I was too young at the time, but I was lucky enough to attend their Dreamworld Tour at 19, which was amazing! I even saw some teenagers and kids at the concert with their parents. I also saw a guy from my old institute — and I remembered him from an elevator ride where he was listening to Domino Dancing.
