I'd be thrilled with a second Ford album. I don't think I'm hearing the same record as some others here because to me it's the purest and most effortless PSB album in years, and I really love both the sound and songwriting

I would be happy for them to make another album with James Ford and to see what direction it went in.

I'd also welcome another Ford-produced album. He managed to make a diverse set of PSB songs which echo almost all of their previous albums sound like a cohesive whole. I would be interested in an album with Richard X, but I've got the feeling he's a bit of a one-trick pony regarding his sound, and while I love 'Fugitive' and what he did with Saint Etienne, I actually think the dominant beat in his mix of 'All the young dudes' is a bit intrusive and doesn't fit the song as well as the Ford version.

I have to say, the version of their sound they found with James Ford isn’t my favourite. I love the idea - strings / reflective / song-writerery / electronics / warm - but Nonetheless for me isn’t quite the sum of these parts. The songwriting is as good as ever. There’s an absolute tonne of ideas. But it’s the likes of Through you and Beauty has laid which really make me sit up. I think Ford’s production of Neil’s vocals is key to this; I much prefer the vocal sound of the demos.

While I'm perfectly happy with Ford, I do agree that they don't really need a producer, which the brilliant B-sides and demo versions make clear. During the Super era, I preferred most of the tracks they produced themselves with the help of Gleadall to what was on the album. Also, they already produced Release themselves, which is one of my favourite PSB albums.

Referring to the Introspective thread… imagine a new 6 track album… 2 produced by Horn, 2 produced by Richard X, 2 produced by Price… all bangers. Could bridge us over nicely to a slower, reflective, moodier 10 track album (we all know it’s coming).

That's a really great idea.
However when i talk about Trevor Horn i think more about Fundamental.
The songs and the production were phenomenal.

Any possibility at all is good but I would particularly enjoy something very "electro hardcore" with vocals (something like Fluorescent/Burn/Bolshy, for example). Few tracks, around 8, but all floor-ready. Ok, maybe 1 slow song/ballad for compensation. Also, 'Brat' is mentioned in the original post, and working with The Dare could be interesting.

I am hankering for a more energetic updated youthful sound that would be welded to Chris and Neil's songwriting, say like AJ Moore? At least for the uptempo bangers!

I too would be very interested in where a second James Ford album would go, especially without the schackles of lockdown on the three of them. I think Nonetheless is quite a beautiful album, though does lose some majesty towards the end until Love is the Law (of course).

Embrace has a suitably elate sound, for example.

When Littlemore combined with a more traditional singer/songwriter I felt there was a little PSB creeping into the chorus

I'd love to hear them work with Daniel Avery. His dark yet joyous productions would be a wonderful contrast to the Boys melodies.
