I played a drinking game when I watched ICHH and I took a sip every time Neil or Chris came on screen.

I really don't remember much about the ending.

To be honest I think a double bill of ICHH and Potemkin could be quite a grueling 4 hours.

I'd certainly need a stiff drink or two before hand, and probably afterwards as well.

Hardly four and half hours - closer to two and a half plus Neil being entertaining.

Were you able to grab a ticket ok? Got positioned about 49 in the queue, within 2 minutes had purchased a ticket. A good chunk of central seats had already gone but got a decent one in Row D.

I'm selling two tickets for tonight's BFI event which sadly I can no longer attend due to a family emergency this morning. Only looking to cover ticket cost (£50). Seats are M39/40, and they are PDF tickets so easy to send.

Well that was a great evening - the Potemkin soundtrack sounds so much better and makes so much more sense alongside the film (which is incredible).

Neil was on form and very witty, if a tiny bit brusque with a fan who overdid it when telling a personal anecdote during the q&a. He revealed that (unless we already knew this?) they're working on a studio recording of A Man From The Future with the Manchester Camerata. Something I found intriguing that I'd not heard before was that the lyrics to After All were partly not about the film at all but inspired by the 2003 Iraq war protests. He also said the footage they screened in Trafalgar Square was simply taken off a DVD they bought in Our Price and that the version that's now being shown is actually a different cut, though somehow it all seems to line up. I'm not clear whether the full Men and Maggots has been restored - didn't they cut it for the original soundtrack release - but I can't imagine they edited the film so I suppose it must have been. And finally, if I understood correctly, the first piece in the score - Comrades - was based on yet another piece of music Chris wrote while they were trying to generate a hit single for PopArt, an activity that seems to have produced most of an album (didn't someone here add up all the songs that originated in these sessions recently?).

The soundtrack is really a lot better than I ever gave it credit for. It's clear with hindsight how much it prefigured Fundamental - not just in the orchestrations and electronics (some of the sounds are quite similar) but in the subject matter.

ICHH is still a bit insane and there's something odd about the sound design, the way the music goes in and out of focus, that I hadn't picked up watching it on VHS/Blu-ray, but I enjoyed subjecting three new people to it.

Lastly, someone in front of me had a cute cartoon version of the Nonetheless cover on a t shirt, which I'm assuming was someone here...? Hello if so!

I liked the tee a lady was wearing of the Neil and Chris Funkopops.

Enjoyable evening. I came up from Hove after work (no sign of my new neighbour Angie Rayner yet...) and must admit a long day got the better of me and I dozed off a couple of times during Potemkin but it was great to see both films on the big screen.

Were you able to work out if ICHH played a bit slow as it does on the Blu-ray (with the music sounding slightly flat), or did they screen it at the right speed?

To my years, everything sounded OK apart from Kings Cross.

At some point during the evening I managed to loose my jumper. The lovely security man took me back into NFT1where someone was playing Pets into the auditorium, then he took me to the bar at the back where luckily my (rather distinctive) jumper had been handed in. I was oblivious that fellow Petheads were waiting for Neil behind a tape near NFT 2 but on getting a bit closer asked them and of course recognised some! Neil signed the booklet from the Potemkin DVD for me.

It was good to meet friends old and new!
