Fleetwod Mac Tango In The Night
Fleetwod Mac Tango In The Night
Just picked up Tango In The Night at my local 2nd hand record store. I fell in love with Little Lies already back in the 80's (the album was released in '87) but now listening to the whole album that song is even better and I'm struck by how well it is produced. Lots of stuff going on in the songs, great sounds, I don't like all songs but I recognise the production level. Little Lies is on repeat.

Fifteen year old me didn’t like it at the time. Why would I? It was “old people’s music” and 1987 had imperial PSB, house music, and jam and Lewis. My adult ears though appreciate it for the 80s masterpiece of music that it is.

I loved Little Lies in the 80's but as you said, I don't think the 10 year old me would've liked the rest of the album. Now I do. Buckinghams farewell magnum opus.tottenhammattspurs wrote: Fri 31 May 2024, 3:56 pm Fifteen year old me didn’t like it at the time. Why would I? Given the chaos going on behind the scenes, this album is both remarkable and stunning. One of my top 20 favourite albums of all time.

I love this more than Rumours, just a terrific album end to end. I got my first CD player in 1987 when The Beatles finally released stuff on the format. Sounds daft now, but thus was a very early purchase and a lot of my friends hadn't heard a CD before, so putting on Little Lies was a revelation to quite a few. The clarity even on a disc from that era is astounding.
And at the end/ Your funny Uncle staring / At all your friends / With military bearing

Rumours too much 70's in America, does not connect with me. Tango In The Night is leaps ahead of Rumours.Old Soak wrote: Sat 23 Nov 2024, 1:58 pm I love this more than Rumours, just a terrific album end to end. I need to play that again. I always like when "Little lies" comes on in waiting rooms and places. Classic album cover, too.
If anyone cares for The Ting Tings, their brand new album owes a lot to Fleetwood Mac and other soft rock sounds. I'm enjoying the record a lot.
Pet Shop Boys content: The Ting Tings call the album Home, an album title PSB ultimately rejected in favor of Release.

Re: Fleetwod Mac Tango In The Night
I have been in love with this album since its release but surely it is not at the same level with Rumours. I agree with Telys comment that Rumours is all-in-all an "American" album (and one of the greatest in that sense) but nothing can come close to matching its raw emotion. And the darkness of the lyrics is so completely contrasted by the lightness of the music.
Little Lies is among my top 50 songs ever, by the way.

I worked for Our Price records when this was released and I still remember my colleague opening the box and putting on the CD saying ''this should be good'' and then that we played it over and over and over. It's still a huge favourite of mine especially Little Lies and Big Love. Check out my mix of Fleetwood Mac hits and a few slightly deeper cuts. I call it ''Mick's'' for the fun if it as my middle name is Michael.

Re: Fleetwod Mac Tango In The Night
There are enough bonus tracks, b-sides and alternative takes available to make Tango In The Night II... I did a playlist and it's almost as good as the proper album.
