-Excluding I didn't get where I am today from Release. It should have been the lead single!
-I'm with stupid as a first single instead of Integral.
-Winner. I'm not fond of Elysium, but that single makes it look blander than it is. Leaving was the only option.
-Wedding in Berlin. Decide was a stronger closer to the album.

To this day I don't understand the fixation they got with this guy. Maybe they owed him money? Some kind of romance thing? Otherwise I don't get it.
A romance thing?, you never know but it's difficult to think that from a married man with four kids.
Re: Pet Shop Boys Missteps
I wish there had been more visibility and emphasis on the songs from My Beautiful Laundrette. They were so wonderful!
Re: Pet Shop Boys Missteps
Releasing the revamped version of I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing with that overly childish video was probably a bad step. The following singles were also poor choices. Better maybe to reissue Very with a CD2 of the b-sides with Too Many People as single #3, would've spiked sales for christmas back in 1993.

That's a brilliant remix

Hotspot for my taste is a very dreary unimpressive album. I was kind of surprised by how little I liked the songs.
never happened where I didnt at least like 3 songs. I like wilo the wisp. thats pretty much it and even now I struggle to remember the other songs. I do remember wedding in berlin ....for all the wrong reasons.

I know! But it's so awful and it literally ruins every song it sounds in that I can't think of something else. Maybe they got some kind of a brain stroke or something. I mean, I would take any theory actually.Nickname wrote: Fri 03 Oct 2025, 5:37 pm A romance thing?, you never know but it's difficult to think that from a married man with four kids.
Because if for one second I think they thought it sounded good then I would dare believing all the rest of their catalogue isn't actually theirs.

One thing comes to mind for me with regards to the U.S. market: not mirroring singles released in the UK. That didn't help them and get more radio exposure.

Not using What Keeps Mankind Alive? as the lead single and album opener, relegating Can You Forgive Her? to a b-side.

Just listened to the Sting albumfrom '87 with Englishman In NY and Fragile on it. The album is full of saxophone á la C Pine. Annoying but apparently part of the zeitgeist.tottenhammattspurs wrote: Sun 05 Oct 2025, 1:09 pmEven Courtney Pine didn't understand the saxophone on the MCMLXXXIX tourNickname wrote: Fri 03 Oct 2025, 5:37 pmI loved the saxophone.lalolalo wrote: Fri 03 Oct 2025, 3:40 pm

Re: Pet Shop Boys Missteps
Thought of another one....not including the spoken word section from the New Bohemia Demo in the album track/single....
