Last Episode of Season 4: Colours (Discography pt 3) - The Quiz

There’s an end-of-term feel to the In Depth season finale as Chris subjects me to the full technicolour horror of the Pet Shop Boys “Colours” quiz!

If you've listened to one of our quiz's before, you'll know how dreadfully I usually perform (I'm not good under pressure), so this time I revised. And you can too. Can you think of an in depth PSB fact for each of the following colours?:
• Red
• Orange
• Green
• Blue
• Purple
• Pink
• Grey
• Brown
• Black

From Brother Brown to Pink Noise, Purple Zones to Little Black Dresses, why not brush up on your own Pet Shop Boys colour-related facts and play along at home? Just be prepared for some shady interpretations!

Did I do enough to impress the resolute quiz master Chris? There's only one way to find out.

Another fantastic episode - but (like Mr Lowe) Chris seems very hard to please! :-)

Hi Graham and Chris,

I have just finished my usual binge listen to the last series (season) of your podcast's, and just wanted to let you know that as always, I have really enjoyed them, and the colours quiz at the end was great fun (although tough on poor Graham !).

I keep meaning after every season to give to your CrowdFunder, as I feel I have got more than my money's worth out of you, so I have done that today.

I was also thinking about suggestions for future episodes, and given that Alternative celebrated it's 30th birthday yesterday, as well as the recent forum page on the member's top 10 b-sides, it would be great to have an episode with a deep dive on that. I reckon almost half of the tracks on the album have been remixed / mixed / have 'alternative' versions, so there is plenty to discuss there, I think. Perhaps enough even for 2 episodes worth ?   .

Thanks again.

Hey - thanks very much for the post, and for the donation… greatly appreciated. Yes we should probably do some more on their b-sides and Alternative would be a great place to start. Graham does get to choose our next album deep dive though…

Thanks again, great stuff

Ahead of another run of podcast episodes - beginning next Friday with a Halloween special - we’ve opened a listener survey, with questions about both Pet Shop Boys and the podcast. It would be great to get your input - you may enjoy some of the questions which are a little different from the norm:

http://tiny.cc/367u001

Those of you that completed our first survey earlier this year should know that we’ve integrated that content into a special Fans / Petheads episode (title still under debate - opinions appreciated!) as part of this new season. We’re really pleased with how it’s turning out.

If you use Facebook but haven’t joined our page please come on over and give it a like - there’s extra content and you’ll be the first to hear about new episodes and other chances to get involved:

Episode 28 - Halloween

“Graham and Chris make a midnight return to the garden shed to unleash the full horror of the In Depth Halloween podcast! As they exorcise the ghosts, vampires, skeletons and will-o-the-wisps haunting the Pet Shop Boys catalogue, unholy guest appearances abound - from Joan of Arc and Ed Gein to Count Dracula and Francisco Goya. Expect a quest to uncover the spookiest PSB album, a chilling tally of all the ways to die in their videos… and the ominous reveal of a mysterious box unearthed from Graham’s loft. If you completed our fan survey back in the summer you may find your story shared in our new Fans episode!

Episode 29 - Petheads

“Graham and Chris celebrate 40 years of Pet Shop Boys fans and fandom with a special Petheads episode of In Depth! Armed with nearly 100 lovingly-completed listener surveys, the stories and memories come thick and fast. From favourite songs and treasured items to fan creativity and real-life encounters with Neil and Chris themselves, they share your thoughts and feelings in a heartfelt first-of-its-kind podcast tribute. But there’s still time to get under the skin of what makes a Pet Shop Boys fan, and a reminder of what we all did to deserve the label Petheads in the first place.”

What a fantastic and very moving listen (and not just because I’m quoted several times :-))

Really enjoyable. Thanks so much for putting this together. Made my day!

Did some catching up yesterday and I wanted to add that the original "Dark end of the street" can be heard in the horror/comedy Weapons.

Also: I got 18 points in the Colours quiz. Does Heart count for the colour grey, since Gandalf the Grey (or White) is in the video?
