Disco 5 (release date: 21st November 2025)
Re: Disco 5 (release date: 21st November 2025)
It’s obviously why they released Let The Music Play as a standalone digital single - they’d have a playlist gap otherwise.
Woof.

Yes, they had to let the music play...Dog wrote: Tue 02 Dec 2025, 5:03 pm It’s obviously why they released Let The Music Play as a standalone digital single - they’d have a playlist gap otherwise.
I wonder whether she'll sing it at the Jazz Café. https://thejazzcafe.com/event/janet-kay ... hompson-3/

i could do a comparison, i'm getting my cd soon.popfreak wrote: Tue 02 Dec 2025, 3:05 pmThat looks like a playlist made from the original released songs, not an official mastered streaming Disco 5 release.Future Lover wrote: Tue 02 Dec 2025, 11:44 am Here's the official bloody Spotify playlist.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7mjHK ... d48523Q2hE
Note that there's a difference with "Queen of Ice"
however, unless they changed the mastering from the originals.. they should be the same.
they might be adjusted for streaming platforms.

No one thinks it’s a new release. It’s literally a playlist made up of the component tracks that were already available. Don’t waste your time checking!negative_0ne wrote:i could do a comparison, i'm getting my cd soon.popfreak wrote: Tue 02 Dec 2025, 3:05 pmThat looks like a playlist made from the original released songs, not an official mastered streaming Disco 5 release.Future Lover wrote: Tue 02 Dec 2025, 11:44 am Here's the official bloody Spotify playlist.

Shame they couldn't make the full Queen Of Ice mix available for streaming. It is available digitally after all, albeit as a Beatport exclusive -_-
I'm here. You're there.

3rd listen and this has finally clicked for me. It’s never going to be my go to album but I’m now happy to have it in my collection.

It's a great listen with a good variety of tracks. I even understand what they are trying to do with the Tina track

Re: Disco 5 (release date: 21st November 2025)
WARNING!
If you buy the digital version of Disco 5 on iTunes you will get the wrong mix of Dreamland!
The digital download on iTunes is the single/album mix running 3m28s. The track is labelled Dreamland (feat. Olly Alexander) [PSB Remix] so it's not an intentional decision to differentiate the digital version of Disco 5 from the physical versions.
The Disco 5 CD has the correct Dreamland (PSB remix) running 4m41s with Paninaro drums.
Annoying mistake.

I still LOVE Disco 5 (and probably will never understand the hate...)
For me, it's a very good listen from start to finish! I was not THAT fond of the remixes individually when they were first released, but the CD is surprisingly a very cohesive listen!

A bonus for people buying the physical release.I like that.Aevion93 wrote: Tue 02 Dec 2025, 10:08 pm Shame they couldn't make the full Queen Of Ice mix available for streaming. It is available digitally after all, albeit as a Beatport exclusive -_-
Re: Disco 5 (release date: 21st November 2025)
Got the CD yesterday. Damn, there are some good mixes on it.
I love Hot For You Baby...it has rough edges, a merciless attitude. There are several mixes like that on D5: Innocent Money, The Triad Mix and the West End girls remix. That is a side of PSB we haven't really seen before. Part of Electric has that attitude but before that we really only got a soft glimpse of it on for example Atom Splitting.
D5 also has the finer/softer tunes like Let The Music Play (nice to hear some house piano).
PS:
Disco 4 did not reach this level of quality.
Disco 3 shouldn't have been a part of the Disco series, it should've been an album on its own.
Disco 2 gets better over the years
Disco is a masterpiece and perhaps their best album
