...WAIT A MINUTE! Annually 2021 was basically Neil's diary for 1986. Here you go - Number One week. The Sun had obviously received an insider tip and was fishing for a quote for the next day's paper.

I figured it'd all be in Neil's diary, but had forgotten it had been in Annually, thanks from that. Confirms all the timings in my message yesterday. Interesting the Network chart (that used different record shops and was broadcast on commercial radio) preceded the official chart by two days on Sun 5th.

I suppose that was their schedule? I never listened to commercial radio growing up in the UK so I was only ever aware of the BMRB or Gallup charts, and we'd all just huddle around the radio on a Tuesday lunchtime.
