I spoke to my publisher this morning about the delays, and he said that the initial print run of 1,000 copies has pretty much sold out. (Of course, that includes shipments from the publisher to retailers, so some retailers may still have copies.) He said that if there's sufficient demand, there will be another print run. So the best way to help ensure more copies will be printed will apparently be for people who don't have it to continue trying to order it. Or, perhaps better yet (or as well), contacting the publisher directly (Fonthill Media https://www.fonthill.media/, an imprint of Pen and Sword Books https://www.penandswordbooks.com/ and https://www.pen-and-sword.co.uk/) expressing a desire to order a copy. That's about the best I can suggest.

Thanks so much to you and everyone else who wants a copy for your continued interest and determination!

This seems to be sold out everywhere online, which is problematic as there's zero point in pre-ordering Volume 2 if you can't get ahold of Volume 1. Fonthill Media really shot themselves in the foot with that print run.

Only 1000 copies?? Dang, I feel exclusive! That settles it - just ordered Volume 2 on Amazon. Need to lock in that bad boy.
For your own good, call me tonight.

That's precisely what I told my publisher when I spoke to him this morning: "People who can't get Volume 1 aren't like to order Volume 2." And I also told him that they seem to be missing out on a lot of sales potential. Why print only 1,000 copies when there's clearly demand for far more than 1,000? It doesn't seem to make business sense to me.

Whatever the case, I'm deeply disappointed. I can only hope they'll decide to do a second print run ASAP.

Canadians rejoice! I just received my copy from Chapters-Indigo! Still not entirely sure how that came about after it said it was going to be months to get here.

Chapters now says it is no longer available online, so looks like I really lucked out.

Damn! I blame myself. It's cool that it's limited, but surely it should have been advertised as so.
Again, my fault for waiting.

I don't think Wayne intended it to be a limited run in that sense. I think the publisher misunderstood the potential popularity of such a book and when you think about recent official PSB limited editions of anything, they sell out within minutes.

It is in e-book form so you can still dive into it if you have that option.

Yeah yeah. I don't blame Wayne at all. Clearly it's the publishers responsibility.

PS: I'm' not much fan of ebooks. The whole point of this, IMO, is to have what we have on the site in paper. Ebook is kind of the same as checking it on the site.

I understand and agree completely. I don't like ebooks, either. I'll take a physical copy any day. And you're absolutely right about comparing an ebook to my website. A major part of my writing these books is to get a lot of it down in physical print.

And you're right: I had no idea the initial print run would be only 1,000 copies. But I don't think it was intended as "limited." I believe it's a major component of the publishing industry today. Physical books don't see in huge numbers anymore, just as physical music doesn't. For instance, I read recently that nowadays all it takes for an album to hit #1 (at least in the U.S.) are sales of about 100,000 copies in a single week, whereas 40 years ago it took sales of over 500,000. By the same token, all it takes these days for a book to hit the New York Times best-seller list are sales of around 5,000 copies in a single week, and often, after that initial surge, a book may sell so more than a few hundred copies afterward. So I suppose it's not surprising that a publisher would have a print run of only 1,000 copies. But if it sells out quickly, I would hope they would be prepared to have a second printing very quickly.

UPDATE: I've just received some excellent news from my publisher! Because the first print run of 1,000 has sold out, they've now scheduled a second print run, with the new copies scheduled for release concurrently with the scheduled release of Volume 2 on March 30.

Yes, thanks so much not only to all of you whose purchases helped sell out the first printing of Volume 1 but also to those whose persistence in ordering it (and also, in some cases, who contacted the publisher about it) inspired this second printing!

Wayne, I think you can add ''best selling author'' to your CV now if you haven't already!

 Well, I believe to qualify as a "best seller" these days, you have to sell at least 5,000 copies (which really isn't much, but that's the nature of today's publishing industry). Since only 1,000 copies have sold so far, and the second print run will probably be no more than another 1,000, I'm not quite there yet. Fingers crossed, though! :)
