Your first paragraph encapsulates the night perfectly "Songs that 99% of people you meet would never know, but here, everyone loves!"

I obviously loved every second but did wish the balance had a few more upbeat tracks versus the ballads. I'd convinced myself they'd play The Resurrectionist and Party in the Blitz (because Princess Julia was there) so was disappointed they didn't. But King of Rome and Kings Cross played next to each other! Awesome.

Will be interesting to see the different tracks each night. I don't know but the way Neil introduced Sylvia Mason-James as a Monday night guest suggested to me they would be the three tracks in the set list swapped out each night.

Dance music for wallflowers

Good gig though
The venue used to be 1,100 capacity, but got permission to up that to 1,500 not so long ago (as far as I'm aware, without any adjustments to the building). We were also about 10-12 "rows" of people back from the stage and it was very tight. But no different to a lot of gigs I've been to over the years at various venues.

The crowd certainly weren't "dead", just squeezed in a bit, making it hard to move. Given that most of us were 50+ in age, I'm not really sure exactly what those saying the crowd were sedated were expecting us to do!

Guessing the grumpy audience members one or two have mentioned just hadn't been to a standing gig like that for some time!

I loved the night. For many of the reasons others have stated. I think Neil and Chris enjoy these smaller, club-sized gigs as they so rarely play them.

Just wondering how the crowd experience may compare to Blackpool that I found uncomfortably squashed and hot - my god how grateful I got to experience the mosh pit at ROH! Danced all night with space! I hope we can all be respectful re phones too during the run - yes I will prob take a snap or two but not much more and I appreciate fans not there want to see - the best gigs I’ve experienced have been where it’s been a no phone rule and the whole crowd came together and simply enjoyed the moment. Really special. Am hoping for an extra banger or two swap for my night! Thanks for shares everyone 🪩

Highlights for me were the crowd chanting back “Will o the wisp”, “It’s not all football and fags”, and “Come on” (during After the event). Songs that 99% of people you meet would never know, but here, everyone loves!

The sound balance where I was standing was a bit ropey at times and I’d have preferred a few more bangers but you can’t really complain when those slow songs include Kings Cross, Your funny uncle and Later tonight.

Oh, and when One in a million mashed into Mr Vain I could finally pretend I was watching them in Rio in 1994!

Also enjoyed chatting to the Podcast Boys!

All in all, feel very privileged to have been there.

I was standing a row or two behind the mix desk, which gave a reasonable view of the stage. Also noticed a few dodgy parts in the sound and glancing at the people at the mixing desk, there did seem to be a few moments of concern.

The encore is a bit meh just because there are too many ballads including "The performance of my life" as a king of intro for the final part.

Maybe, "I dream of a better tomorrow" is good title, even better being a new track but it doesn't sound like a proper song for the end of a show.

The set list is quite random. I mean, it has ups and downs. There is not a special effort for a convincing set list. Not bad but not goog enough.

SPOILER

The Theatre WITH Sylvia Mason James

Not a spoiler that she sang three songs with them because it’s a one off and they sadly said it was a one night only. So anyone going the rest of the week will not unfortunately get the chance to hear her sing this with them

Yeah. Reminded me of the dance he did on the first ever TV show (West End girls, Belgium) lol. Also caught Chris giving a massive smile to Claire U too. Both looked like they were enjoying it.

What do we think is getting subbed out tonight?

I think

Happiness is an option
One in a million/Mr Vain
Do I have to

Anyone’s guess as to what comes in place of those 🙃
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

I think the three songs SMJ sang will be replaced. Maybe with another guest ? Would love it to be ELECTRONIC as a guest.

Of course would love Liza and Dusty REALLY lol.

Would be great if it will be Johnny Marr on one of the nights and they’ll play Up against it, Between two islands and, say, Disappointed!

Couldn't find one, so made my own playlist of the setlist on Spotify. Obviously missing the last unreleased track.
