You'd almost wonder why, at this point, they didn't scrap the whole idea of releasing DW on BluRay. Let's face it, we, the fans, were already bemoaning it had no extra content, the Then and Now docu, videos from Nonetheless and so on. That feedback has been going for a full year, so why double down and release the exact thing everyone was already complaining was lacking?

Best guess, a contractual arrangement, maybe with Parlophone, or the film-makers. The BBC docu goalposts also might have changed when Alan Yentob passed away, so the Go West legal issue was just another nail in the coffin, pushing it out a full year with no possibility to do anything to appease the naysayers.

Of course, this is all speculative at best, but it does seem odd that no attempt was made to change anything about the discs content when a full repress of the disc had to be made to exclude GW anyway.

Not adding the nonetheless videos as an absolute minimum, was a bad idea. The videos, along with the MTV Europe performance and the BBC Strictly performance would have had more sales.

It was a different time in the sense that there were more extras expected of DVD than contemporary releases. The post Smash videos would have been nice, but they don’t control the rights to the Imagine documentary and it’s not like Discovery was packed either. Fans are just whiners, let’s face it.

Whiners or not, they are the target audience for such releases.
Personally I am not too bothered with the lack of extras but am bothered by the poor surround mix and substandard video quality. Listened to the CDs this weekend for the first time and must say I liked them (to my surprise, as I normally do not like their live albums of regular tours very much), with a decent stereo mix to my ears.

Same. Probably won't ever watch the video again, but I'm glad all of these are coming with CDs nowadays since I'll listen to it a lot!

Today, I was at the Mega Record Fair in Den Bosch (Netherlands) and believe it or not, there was one seller who had heaps of the Dreamworld bluray WITH Go West on it!




I was in serious doubt whether to buy it, as I already have the version without GW and did not like the surround mix at all. But I bought it. This is the same fair where the original version already was on sale before it got withdrawn just a couple of days before the planned release date.

I thought the (German) seller (who sold a lot of new stock CDs, vinyls etc) did not know, but he immediately pointed out to me that this was the version that had Go West on it. He knew it was withdrawn. So kudos to him he did not sell it for double the price

There were other stock sellers who had the Nonetheless era CD singles in large amounts as well as the Nonetheless LP.

It did cross my mind to buy multiple copies, and I wanted to at least note the same of the seller to share it here, but tbh the whole fair was so overwhelming, I forgot.
Apparently it is the biggest record fair across the globe.

They fair is held in November again.
