Oh, I was there too. The concert was great.

By the way, it's funny, I've been working with Monocle for many years and came from Russia specifically to see them for business, not for the concert, since I knew all the tickets were sold out in November. But I was lucky and bought tickets second-hand right before the concert.

So, I went into Monocle and Harry said to me:

You said you are a big Pet Shop Boys fan.
I said yes, that's true.
He tells me Chris Heath came in the other day and gave an interview about his new book...

I could run into him and ask him some questions. By the way, you can listen to his podcast on the magazine's website.

That's not my experience in queues at all, I've spoken to loads of people in PSB queues from all over the world, including lots of English people, the queuing is part of the experience and I love the camaraderie. Generally, it's a very friendly, welcoming and inclusive fandom, much more than that of some other acts.
And very tolerant too. I've seen some behaviour that would get someone laid out at any other gig.

Which is quite cunning in a way, isn't it? Are you a heritage act that can't guarantee a "hit" on 2026 terms? No problem! Simply write your own musical about having a hit song!

Y'know, I can see this song being played to a rapturous audience during the balloon drop after Gavin Newsom makes his Presidential Victory acceptance speech and brings our long, dark, orange nightmare to a clo- WHOOPS! Did I say that out loud?? Sorry, SORRY, SORREEEEEEE!! (*ducks and runs*)

Parkol wrote: Mon 04 May 2026, 4:54 pmSo I walked around Soho and went to Edinburgh, wandered around Eastbourne, and asked about PSB's popularity in every record store. Everywhere they told me they were very popular. At one record store, I was told that their records sell better than those of many artists. They are incredibly popular in Britain.
Charts and sales figures exist - these people have clearly given you the wrong impression, because the numbers speak for themselves.

Thank you Jason, now please - I want to wake up!! :shifty:

Anyhoo, back on topic for a bit - I came across a cache of old interviews and this one feels like they've been thinking about an Obscure type scenario for a few years now:

https://recordcollectormag.com/articles/good-old-boys
As to us doing it with a piano, I’ve always had this vision of us, where we’re in our 70s, doing a ‘season’ somewhere. I don’t know if they still do those Jazz On The Park concerts but it would be Chris playing the piano and me sitting on a stool, with a glass of white wine. We’ll talk through the songs a bit, and then play them on piano – though, to be fair to the songs, some of them were, but most of them weren’t really written to be performed like that.

They have plenty of songs that would fit the piano and stool concept! And judging by Obscure, they'd probably enjoy a slower set of songs these days

I think it would also be a sign of respect to hold additional concerts for fans who couldn't afford the trip to London, didn't get tickets, or couldn't attend for other reasons. A obscure event in Berlin would certainly be worthwhile – I'm sure 1,500+ tickets could be sold there as well (Continental-PSB ultras), even if a concert were scheduled for the following evening at the Uber Arena (ultras and casuals). It won't happen – at least not in '26.
Hmmmm.....
