I'll be in Lytham. My home town is Preston, Lancashire. So I am heading back home for the weekend, to see my mum and dad who both still live in Preston (in the house where I grew up) and who I don't see as much as I should, and to see Pet Shop Boys.

It'll all be a bit emotional

Verdict on the Lytham Festival: it was okay. The PSB and their band delivered a solid performance. Neil smiled less and chatted less than usual; perhaps he wasn't in the best of moods. He mixed up two verses right at the start of "Opportunities" and had a brief memory lapse with the lyrics during "Se A Vida É." Otherwise, it was business as usual. Although the Scissor Sisters were the support act, there was no guest appearance by Jake Shears. I found the crowd atmosphere a bit cool or subdued. Naturally, the die-hard fans were right at the front, while many further back seemed to be there primarily for the festival itself, treating it as a Saturday outing.
The festival itself is excellent. The location is exceptional, the organization was good (with the exception of the disastrous departure via the shuttle bus to Blackpool, which involved waiting in line for over an hour), and the food and drink options were very varied.

I was at Lytham last night. Really enjoyed it.

It was cool and windy, not a balmy summer's evening which perhaps didn't help lift the crowd's somewhat subdued atmosphere. Agree with zukunft that most of the crowd were not necessarily there for PSB.

I don't think Dancing Star really fits the Dreamworld setlist, there was a drop in momentum at that point. However, New Bohemia - a song I loved on first listen - just gets better and better. It was beautiful last night. My highlight of the show.

The sound was loud and bassy, and perhaps the volume was up to counteract the wind. The bass gave tracks like Paninaro and It's A Sin a real kick, which was great but I felt it ruined Jealousy, a lovely piano-driven ballad that was drowned in bass, which was a shame.

The upside of this bassy setup is that the bass sound on Chris's keyboard for West End Girls is epic 🫨

The (expected and predictable) encore of West End Girls and Being Boring is still brilliant and highly emotional - "... always rely on a friend"

I think by this stage even non-Petheads like those at the festival have seen Dreamworld several times. It's like being within a metre of a rat in London - go to enough concerts and you'll see the bloody Pet Shop Boys, darling.

I love Neil, and of course it's Pet Shop Boys, the most successful of pop duos. But there's something about Chris. I just can't take my eyes off of him. Absolutely mesmerising.

On the giant screen last night, next to the open skies above the Ribble Estuary, just a few miles from his home town of Blackpool, Lancashire.

I feel like Neil has adopted Claire. They always seem to be off doing adventures. It's very sweet.

Lytham was an interesting experience, although not one I need to do again in a hurry! Too many people, many of whom don't appear to be interested in the main act, maybe more about making the most of their five day pass? The show was its usual impeccable self, with the aforementioned flubs, but I still get chills when Babel kicks off and the bass did reprogram most of my biorhythms!

I'm sure the breeze was a nice change for Neil who has been wearing big coats at sweaty Euro festivals, but he did look as though he was about to blow away a few times when the wind caught a coat flap!

All in all, I had a great time, as did Mr PSG who came with me this year. I seen to have taken to many photos again though.
