Do you want PSB to take part of football's party?

#1 Post by Nickname »

New album in 2028, United Kingdom Eurocup. I think PSB should try to take part of it with a song or something.

From the group of the football anthem Go West that took part in a big scale in the Olympic's party.

They did Winner for the Olympics so maybe they could do a song for England in the form of a cover of Beck's Loser.

If they want to. I'm not too fussed.

It's funny seeing New Order really promoting World In Motion recently.
Just today they've released a remastered and noticeably different version of it.
Recently it's been: lots of reels and video clips of the song and music video, the single package released on digital platforms, little retrospectives, a live version performed, a rerelease of the merch from the music video. Just really pushing it. It's funny.
On their Spotify it's in their top 5 amongst Blue Monday and Age Of Consent.
I do like the song (part at the end sounds like Vocal by the way) but it's not their best. The promotion seems forced but I'm just glad that era of New Order is receiving attention to be frank.
Pet Shop Boys it could be a similar thing, putting out a music effort that's part of something larger.
It's been really fun in recent years when they've done that, though it's really been with preexisting songs. We had the Superbowl commercial with Opportunities prominently featured. West End Girls featured in Grand Theft Auto in the strip clubs.
Other examples in film. I don't see PSB as a soundtrack band or one to attach themselves to a cause but it wouldn't be too out of character like daveid says.

It's been fascinating observing the attention FIFA has been getting. So many companies piggybacking off of the attention.
It must be a very viable marketing strategy. Essentially every sign and new campaign I see is referencing the world cup.
UEFA Euro 2028 may not be in the same scale but it could be something for Neil and Chris to put some focus on.
Again I personally don't really care.

For PSB, the olympics campaign was great. Wimbledon acts, closing ceremony performance, Olympics party, etc with West End Girls also in the opening, sounding everywhere and with a single like Winner on Radio was great. Many people kwowing PSB were still on the road.

I loathe World In Motion - cheesy words, jerky melody and a terrible rap. The best World Cup song was “Touched by the Hand of Cicciolina” by Pop Will Eat Itself (also 1990), a song to which “Music for Boys” bears an uncanny similarity!
For your own good, call me tonight.

I love "World in Motion." It’s their second-best song after "Bizarre Love Triangle" and the greatest song ever written to "rally" a team. It features a great pop melody in the verse and a fantastic bridge leading into a sensational chorus.
The final section after the rap is a massive anthem for cheering on England—were it not for the "arrivederci" line, it would work for any Euros or World Cup until the end of time... And for the record, I’m not English.
