Boll*cks. If anyone ever writes a book on how to throw away a game, tonight was a perfect example. It's no good saying they didn't deserve to lose. IMO, they got what they deserved. You cannot afford to miss penalties for a start. Steven Gerrard showed why he isn't yet a world class player because world class players simply don't panic like he did.

I'd like an explanation from Sven for his reasoning in selecting Emile Heskey. He is shite. England were fortunate that was a group game. They should still qualify but it will be difficult because of the nature of the defeat. Hopefully, Sven can pull his head out his arse and drop Paul Scholes to the bench. A lot of positives tonight could have been damaged to the lack of discipline at the end of the game.

lol I knew as soon as I saw Heskey was coming on you were probably bitchin over there Dave!

Still all in all Zidane is a class act- that was some superb skill he showed there, and England played up ok against France, but you know, they really need to learn how to properly finish a match both psychologically and athletically. They just brought in new matresses cause Neville (G) bitched about em, so how come they cant get in some decent sports psychologists to sort out this finishing issue.

Just a thought

Good game though, definitely entertaining if heartbreaking!

Changing Heskey for Rooney was a very, very strange move. Rooney looked like the one England player in the 2nd half who was still prepared to go at France.
Same old England; sit back on 1-0 for the last 30 mins. The Beckham miss didn't help, but England could have broke away with a lot more belief in the last half-hour and given some support to Rooney.
Owen might as well have not played, Gerrard made a shocking mistake and Heskey gave away the free kick; bloody Liverpool.....................

Glenny, don't be too down, they have 2 games to recover. It's all about mental strength now. Switzerland and Croatia are both very poor but it will be down to mental strength now.

I don't mind the style of play too much. It worked against Argentina and it was working tonight until the manager made some bizarre mistakes and Gerrard panicked. Saying that, we can not play that way against poorer sides. Vassell played ok when he came on and i think i'd start him against Switzerland and drop Owen. Give him something to think about because he is a top player but is playing well below par. Paul Scholes must be dropped. I'm not a fan of Joe Cole but he should come in or maybe Hargreaves.

I agree that the time has come to drop Scholes, I'd play Butt as the holding player instead of Lampard, who is much better in the role currently played by Scholes.

There was almost a riot in the pub I watched the game in. The sudden defeat was a shock to everyone. I am sure France hadn't expected to win....

Hey Scandal at least you were in a pub- i was moaning and groaning away alone at work ( cause i have a faster computer there)- then the state demographer showed up and mustve wondered what the hell i was up to hahaha. That was definitely a pub match tho- I would have killed for the chance since watching the Argentina match in 02 was unforgettable in a pub!

I totally agree with you Dave. I actually thought England didnt play well at all and were very lucky to be in front.

It certaintly says something when Englands best player plays for Spurs!!!

Sven can go and f*** Off. Ive NEVER liked him. The job should be an Englishmens and he was sitting in the studio.
