Creating a link

Sorry for the dumb-ass question, but how do you provide a short cut to a link? I know how to go

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainmen ... 652154.stm

but how do you tidy it up so you can just make the link read "BBC" or whatever? I used to be able to do it on Aimoo, but I have never been able to work it out over here!
