Smoking is indeed the most selfish habit.
While waiting for passport control (outside at the harbour) for my boat trip to Rhodes from Turkey last week, an English woman of a certain age lit up in front of my fella and I and I could see on his face he wasn't happy.
So I asked politely if she could move away from the queue a bit (as other smokers had done, but regained their places after) and she just completely ignored me, instead just turning to face the other way, which now meant the smoke was wafting directly in our faces
So I told the old leather face in more forceful terms to "Move away now until you've finished smoking. It's really rude what you're doing."
She retorted "I don't have any control over the way the wind blows!"
I started to feel the temperature rising and promptly replied with "So come back to the queue when you've finished the cigarette then, you inconsiderate bitch."
And she just gave me a look of disgust and threw the fag on the floor (the cigarette I mean, not me or my boyfriend) and stamped on it like she was a donkey.
Then I realised why she didn't want to move. Owing to the fact that the queue had shambollically formed at both ends, she had found herself first in the queue, only when the passport inspector opened up, he chose the first seat which meant she had overshot the office and had to wait till we had gone through. I flashed her a beaming grin and told her to have a good trip and we bagged the best seats on board.
Gawd, ex smokers are the worst eh? I gave up on New Year's Eve.

Loins, congratulations for both giving up smoking and for writing this part:

Interesting topic.
We've both given up smoking, 'cause it's fatal.... no, really.
I was a true addict. I love smoking. Love it, love it, love it. But I hate cancer and emphysema even more. Meh.

And everything about tonight feels right and so young
And anything I'd want to say out loud will be sung
It's in the music...
