I see James Ford is the producer of the surprise new Blur album as well. He’s the man of the moment!

I get the impression that he’s not a producer who procrastinates and spend ages faffing around. I’m sure I read an article about him producing Depeche Mode and first thing he did was streamline their way of working. I think this album may be appearing sooner than we thought
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

He's certainly getting about! ... though not all that surprising I guess after being involved previously with Damon on Gorillaz. Like the new Blur track as well and looking forward to their new album. Might even spill for impulse ticket when they play Wembley this summer.

Agreed Flaffer - I too think the new PSB album will be with us before too long ... I expect by the end of this year.
you could say conventional ... and I could claim intentional

This new Blur song is nice and upbeat, not that different from Depeche Mode's Ghost Again.

But Jessie Ware new album, also co-produced by James Ford, was too camp for my taste, a big letdown after the cool What's Your Pleasure.

What to expect of a PSB album produced by James Ford? Will be get the cool electronic vibe of WYP? The campness disco of JW last effort? The midtempo, somber yet bright songs of Blur or DM? I can see PSB taking either route...

That new Blur single sounds a lot like early Bloc Party tbh...

Don't take this as gospel, but apparently the new album is completed, however it won't be released until next April according to a couple of fans who bumped into Neil & Chris in Helsinki..

That's a bit frustrating, if true.

That’s a VERY long time. I wonder if they might be intending to record yet another album in the meantime in order to release two in rapid succession.

Maybe they intend to release other stuff prior to the new album. Possibly a live BluRay/DVD/CD of Dreamworld? MCMLXXXIX releasing?? (I don’t actually think the latter will ever, ever happen tbh, even though they said a year ago that discussions about its release were ongoing).
Its taken me all of my life to find you

It also depends what they mean by the new album being “completed”. It might be recorded but not yet mixed or mastered.

The long lead time doesn’t surprise me. Album releases take quite a while to plan and execute. It might not have a name yet. I doubt there’s artwork.

Don’t forget that they’ll still be touring Dreamworld this December. Allowing for some time off post tour it’s more like three and a half months between the tour ending and the album coming out.

They said in Annually it's pinned for a 2024 release.
April if anything is early, it's the first part of the year.

This is wonderful news as far as I'm concerned.
Who knows if there will be a single or two released in the lead up.

I can see that happening.

Agree. I can't imagine there will be a complete dry spell over the next few months.
Especially considering the momentum we've had. Think Annually, Lost, Dreamworld, SMASH, Reel Stories. Radio silence as soon as the tour ceases after this week? I doubt it.

Disco 5 is a possibility by the way.

It's not early when you consider it'll be over four years since Hotpot came out which itself was four years after Super. This is their leanest period. A second album in 2025 would have course be wonderful but it's more likely they'll bring out Disco 5 and some kind of Tennant/Lowe album.

Except that all the songs according to Neil and Chris were written during the COVID pandemic. This is their lockdown album.
