I think that is not only a issue of fee or something like that, it is much more deeper....YouTube or similar means of "freebroadcast" (including webcasters) are a treat to those conglomerates that may eventually result in the loose of their grip on the sector. I read a few days ago that Royalty Committee of USA (or whatever it is) is planning to hike royalty fees paid by webcasters (radios) to unimaginable heights so that many webcasters will be out of business within a few weeks unless the US congress rejects it. You see, fee is a powerful tool for big corporates to legitimately suppress any potential trend against them (and of course profits)...geowayne wrote:It's not just PSB videos. I heard a news report just a couple days ago that, on account of a crackdown by various media conglomerates threatening legal action, YouTube was being forced to remove a huge amount of its content.
I don't understand it. You would think that these media companies would realize that such things are promos for their artists that encourage fan interest and stimulate sales. There are several examples of artists that have "broken out" into mainstream popularity on account of exposure on YouTube. And I'd bet that even established artists like PSB win some new fans along the way.
But that's corporate greed for you. Sometimes they cut off their noses to spite their faces.
