YouTube removals

#1 Post by dannii »

has anyone noticed that a hell lot of PSB videos are no longer on YouTube
I don't know why is that
then what's the point in uploading them if they're being removed all the time
can't find videos for ''Liberation'' or CYFG, clips from Projection VHS, clips from Montage DVD, interviews, tons of videos, it's really weird 'cause I know they were there before

P.S.

I remembered that ''Later tonight'' (not Whistle Test) clip I saw on YouTube a while ago, Chris and Neil are on stage, Neil is sitting and lights are dimmed, large piano, maybe it's black and white
it's not there anymore, from where was that

Meanwhile Neil put appreciating note on official site regarding non-singles-fan-made-videos from youtube.

Well I've watched 'Young Offender' on You Tube tonight taken from the Montage DVD.

That was taken from the 1989 tour.

It's not just PSB videos. I heard a news report just a couple days ago that, on account of a crackdown by various media conglomerates threatening legal action, YouTube was being forced to remove a huge amount of its content.

I don't understand it. You would think that these media companies would realize that such things are promos for their artists that encourage fan interest and stimulate sales. There are several examples of artists that have "broken out" into mainstream popularity on account of exposure on YouTube. And I'd bet that even established artists like PSB win some new fans along the way.

But that's corporate greed for you. Sometimes they cut off their noses to spite their faces.

It affects all Viacom related clips. YouTube and Viacom could not reach an agreement as to a fee so Viacom ordered all clips from shows etc.. under Viacom be removed.

More to the point... if the sound and video quality is not really that good (which it usually isn't on YouTube) then I have to wonder why the record companies worry that much.

Yeah, it was a complaint from Viacom that resulted in my account with 100+ vidoes being removed. Annoyingly, I think if I'd remembered to remove MTV from the title as I did with BBC on the Top Of The Pops videos, I 'may' have gotten away with it. Surely they are just searching for keywords, so if you want to host videos, bear that in mind.

Yup...happened to some of the Pulp videos as well.

Warner however has been licensing to YouTube since Sept 06.

While it could be the greed thing, it could well be a trivial personal dislike for someone on the YouTube team. These so called executives can be quite kiddish sometimes. :? Who knows.

I wouldn't mind, but the videos posted (well mine anyway) are only of interest to fans like ourselves and it's not like the broadcasters are making them available to us by any other means.

I've also noticed that people time and time again say they aren't going to post anymore, then all of a sudden, they do ;)

The BBC has now has official channels on YouTube, rather excitingly.

There's not too much on there at the moment, but it should be great when more content is added. :D
