I saw this film last night. I Want A Dog sounded fantastic in the nightclub scene. Always on my mind is the single version in the film, with N&C in the background on Top Of The Pops on TV. The version of Always on my mind used in the trailer is not in the film itself, if I recall correctly.

As an added bonus, the Dreamworld trailer played ahead of All Of Us Strangers at the screening I attended!

What a fantastic film. 9/10 from me. (But I'd give Saltburn a 4/10, so we likely have different tastes!)

Best not to know anything about it going in (except you'll probably feel teary-eyed at certain points).

Nice to see genuine use of pop music up on the screen, rather than just as a promotional gimmick.

I have a feeling this movie is going to make me cry like a baby.

As I get older, and definitely since having kids, certain themes in movies have started to affect me way more than they used to.

Same here, becoming a father made me emotionally complete. So I'm not able to watch certain movies without bursting out in tears or turning off because it's too violent. "About Time" is probably akin to "All Of Us Strangers".

Half of Vue Stratford were blubbering wrecks coming out of Screen Room 20 on Monday night. Beautiful but sad AF.

I've been avoiding "About Time" for years for this very reason. I know I'll be a wreck afterwards.

"Field of Dreams" is my go-to for a good cry. I watched "Big Fish" on a tiny screen on a plane without sound and it still had me in tears!

Oh, and try to not to fall in Love with one or both of the main actors while binging.

Last night, I watched this film in bed with my headphones on whilst my wife slept next to me. I only intended on watching the first 10 minutes or so to see if I’d like it. I ended up watching the whole film through! I couldn’t stop watching. As a straight guy I thought the film wouldn’t connect with me. But it very much did. I had tears rolling down my face during a few scenes, particularly when Adam was in bed talking to his mum, when his mum was singing Always on my mind to him and the restaurant scene at the end.

Beautiful film and of course I loved that Adam watches the TOTP repeats and listens to NOW 10, just as I do too. I loved the Xmas 1987 scene with TOTP and Always on my mind playing, took me right back to when I was 15. Great to hear I Want a Dog also in the club scene! Brilliant.

It becomes quite central because of the timing around Christmas. There are other bands given prominence, but it's clear the director felt PSB were important!

Also I think it works great in the trailers simply because it's a fab, sell-able tune! Anyone who feels a twinge for that song will probably enjoy the pop sensibilities of the film

Wow, it really grabbed you . The sexuality in this film is very natural, and not presented as a trendy thing. So I think that makes it good for a wide audience.

Also it's more a sentimental film than just a gay film... really hard not to have empathy for the characters!

Anyway, if you are reading this but haven't seen it and want to - maybe just stop reading about it, because the less you know the better

Nah, it's ok. I've cried before despite knowing all kinds of film scenarios there are.

Yes, exactly that. I didn’t really think of it as a gay film tbh. Obviously the sex scenes put it in that context but for me it was as you say, a more sentimental and reflective film with some added fantasy too. It was more about having to let go of a past traumatic event, to deal with it to enable the main character to move on with his life. Best film I’ve seen in ages!
