Perhaps it's more appropriate to think of these as pressing new copies for newer fans or anyone else who can't get the originals any more and don't just want to rely on streaming, but they're now packaged in digisleeves, not jewel cases.

For everyone complaining about damaging the CD as it slides in and out of the sleeve, no doubt there will soon (if there isn't already) be a business in creating mini liners for digisleeves, like a vinyl inner sleeve.

Personally I prefer a cardboard sleeve over a hard plastic jewel case. I've had enough of the darn things break on me over the years. The digisleeve feels more environmentally friendly even if the CD itself still isn't.

The first card sleeve CD singles in the late 80's came with 'cloth' protective inner sleeves. Most Japanese card sleeve issues still come with plastic liners. You can buy them easily online.

Yeah I'd like to see a photo of that. I picked up the CD singles later (I think there was a re-release of card sleeved singles circa 1993. I didn't own a CD player until '93 so had to play catch up)

Discogs suggests the Heart re-release still came with a dust jacket so will have to check.

Same here, bought them about 1995. No inner dust sleeve but the sleeve for Heart and Rent were significantly larger than some of the others.

On Amazon UK the release date is 1st january 2027 due to some unexpected reason maybe manufacturing issues with printing by hand the digisleeves …

It's a re-release of the original CD, not the LP, so the design is exactly right.

Interesting, I was a late adopter of CDs so I've never come across "cloth" inner sleeves for pre-recorded CDs before. Are they like that fabric that you'd get inside those little CD album zip cases? I'm guessing they swiftly got dropped on grounds of cost.
