I remember reading an interview with them way back around the time of “Actually” or possibly “Introspective” where Neil commented that they had already written their final album which would be entitled “Posthumously.” I’m certain he was being facetious. Having said that, a few years back they did say they weren’t ever planning on announcing their retirement or final album, rather simply stopping at some point, unannounced, and leaving people to wonder about their status.

The thought has occurred to me though, that we shouldn’t expect much more than the 2028 album (and it’s accompanying b-sides) along with the Alan Turing project later this year, and perhaps the “Naked” songs at some point in terms of original content. It’s plausible they could keep going past Neil’s 80 birthday like the Rolling Stones, who knows?

Given that they keep recording and releasing songs written at the beginning of their career such as the “A new bohemia” b-sides, I could see an album of new recordings of many of their old, officially unreleased songs such as “In the club or in the queue” as some type of “Posthumously” type of final statement.
