Was there ever a decent British entry? Bucks Fizz were *memorable* but pretty crap really. I'd have Gary Glitter singing Young Girl backed by a choir of two hundred schoolgirls as our entry.

I think Sweden chose the wrong one to represent them. BWO should have won. They´re legendary and many more people know them than that woman who won.

Also, Charlotte Perrelli has already won ESC for Sweden! In 1999 Charlotte Nilsson, as her name was back then, took the victory with "Take me to your heaven". That was the last time we won, so maybe she can do it again! I think "Hero" is a very good song.
I had hoped for one of the excellent ballads to win, especially since Sweden's last ballad entry was ten years ago.
In fact it was the jury votes that settled the final result. Sanna Nielsen's "Empty room" ended up at second place, but it received the most telephone votes.

Charlotte's "Hero" sounds like an excellent song for the disco!!
Oh, how I miss dancing in a disco with some really good music.
It's such a long time when I've been in a party like that. That would be a very good birthday present. Sigh...

I remember that year. The LCG song was light years ahead of the other entries in just about every benchmark - lyrics, melody, artistic merit.
Needless to say, it finished about 15th, lost in the usual miasma of unlistenable Euroguff.
This competition will never have any credibility, for one simple reason: with a handful of notable exceptions, pop music from continental Europe is abysmal.

Take Me To Your Heaven by Charlotte was the last ESC winner I went out and bought. Still like it today - one of the all time better ones.
I like her new one too - which was voted no.1 by Radio Times readers so I'm not alone.
