*sings*Before...You find your love before...It comes knocking at your door...Before you know for sure...This is what you were waiting for...

Vince it's not about the age, I don't think one can put an age to this whole situation. You feel ready and you want someone and it's perfectly fine. Don't feel hopeless, just enjoy everyday and someone will be there for you. Instead of struggling looking for that person, enjoy the search...make it a fun trip. Don't feel desperate...people can sense desperation and that drives them away as it translates in the following word: "saddo". Cheer up, your someone is out there, just have fun finding her.

I was not looking for anyone, I was only interested in my studies when I met an American sailor...11 months later we were at the altar.
This year we'll celebrate our 9th anniversary and we have a 5 yrs old child. :D
You, you're my lover, you're my hope, you're my dreams my life, my passion, my love, my sex, my money
violence, religion, injustice and death

I met my husband when I was 19 and at first thought he was lovely, but he had a girlfriend. Then as I got to know him, I decided he was a bit of an ar$e. Lost touch with him over the years. Had a few serious relationships along the way, broke a few hearts and had mine broken. Bumped back into my husband at 29, he had matured and was no longer an ar$e. Married before I was 30. 5 years on and 2 kids later... there was no hurry. If I'd got together with him at 19, it never would have worked out.

Don't stress. The right person will come along when the time is right.

Just read this thread for the first time. I will admit that I have been unlucky in love, but I have also lived me life with my heart on my sleeve which means that one can get hurt easily. I am envious of gay men who are part of a 'couple', but I still live with my ex and this is holding me back. When we all emerge from the credit crunch I will probably try to strike out on my own. I think getting a flat or even a bedsit to myself would help enormously.

Totally off topic but one of my favourite things is a scratchy old vinyl Sandy Shaw record from the '60's with the original 'Always Something There to Remind Me' and several other never heard before tracks. Love it!

Still off topic but re living with an ex.. tell me about it! Recipe for disaster. It may very well be a completely innocent temporary platonic arrangement purely for economic reasons, convenience, and even familiarity if you get along okay.. but try convincing a would-be suitor that you don't have some new-fangled funky open relationship swinging thing going on, and that it really is okay if the bed does squeak a bit, 'Mr Okay With It All' is not going to burst in with an Axe screaming at you to get off the mother of his child!

Vince.. That spunky American bloke a few posts back had it right (the one with the girl with the nice ta ta's).. confidence is the key.

Gotta love yourself first. Got to think you are the bees knees and okay with the world. Nobody knows YOU like you do. If you don't seem sure of yourself how can you expect somebody who knows you not at all to have any confidence in you. If you appear to rate yourself poorly, they'll take your word for it. Who are they to argue if even you don't much like you. Conversely, if you seem okay with yourself and show no fear or insecurity around others, you give out the message that you must have reason to be that way. You become a people magnet when you're confident, even if you have to fake it to begin with. And there's a huge difference between confidence and arrogance. Confident people don't mind dishing out compliments to others, arrogant people tend to put other's down in order to appear or feel superior by comparison.

You will almost NEVER find love when you are looking for it. When you love yourself and exude confidence, spend your time in pursuit of fun and pleasure, it's then that others will be drawn to you and you are more likely to have a chance encounter leading to what it is you want.

Well, that's what I reckon anyways.

First time I've read this thread, thought I'd comment now I have time on my hands.

I'm 30 and have been single, through choice, most of my life. What I find now though is my expectations of a partner just seem unreal in this world that we seem to live in. I think between 18 and 32 society thinks you should like beer, clubs, football and that sort of thing, whereas quieter bars, wine, art, reading interesting books seems to be reserved for those over 40.

Where do Guardian reading 30 year olds find their perfect partner?
