How rare is the "Release" cassette album

I have been wondering for a while now just how rare (if rare at all) is the cassette album of Release.
I picked up a copy in a second hand record shop here in France for 2 euros and I have never seen another copy for sale anywhere.
I am talking about the standard album, not the import album with remixes I have seen around.
Anybody have any idea?

You are one lucky mf. Rare, Rare, Rare! Sold my spare on eBay a few years back for £170. It has a grey sleeve and a stickered case I presume?

Yeah that's the one and the tape has the track list on the top left side and pet shop boys release on the right side next to the tape hole. Are you sure it's so rare?
Does anybody else have this?

Get a grip! 170 quid for a tape that I easily found in a regular Estonian music store and which, I'm sure, can still be found over there? Instead of calling jsdouvres a lucky mf, I'd say that eBay shopper is one unfortunate mf to have bumped into you and one of your famed rip-off deals

Oh yeah - those Estonian record shops that everyone else sees all too frequently on the high street.

Ebay is an auction site - unless it's on "Buy It Now" you pay what you wanna pay.

And there are some stupid people who actually pay a fortune for one of this...

Anyway, it's cheaper than a ticket to Estonia...

I'd rather have authentic merchandise than some cheap rip-off from eastern Europe or Asia.

Famed rip-offs? Well, nice to hear someone actually said it than having "small talk" behind my back. Surely you won't be interested in my current eBay auctions? Oh dear, like I said in another thread, you could always buy from Esprit or download mp3s which don't actually do much for sales

Of course, I don't know many shops here in the UK who have had the Release cassette as many have told me that it was withdrawn and only a small box full were handed out to certain mail-order companies and EMI staff.

I agree that £170 is way too much but if somebody wants to pay that much than it's up to them and we have all seen the ridiculous prices that people pay for psb stuff on ebay sometimes!

I have Release cassette, it looks the same as what JSDOUVRES discribed. But it's not British, it's made in Russia by Gala Records company, which is the official EMI representative in Russia. I bought it in a record shop in Moscow.

HA! Mine is different to that in the auction. You can get these Cassettes from anywhere (the ones in the link contain the tracks of the US 2CD set). The real one to look out for is the one with a grey p/s and white reverse case. Find that and you're quids in!

This is the UK withdrawn TCLP we are talking about. Since the one I've sold on eBay a few years back, I have yet to see any so this could prove how rare it is. If I didn't have this item already and someone wanted £170 for thiers, I probably wouldn't argue and get it over with immediately.

Yep exactly with the white reverse case, but out of interest who told you they were withdrawn? A reliable source?
