#1 Post by Hmmm »

Neil and Chris are in the March2006 issue of MixMag Big picture plus artical on ..Music is the Answer Pet Shop Boys Reveal the Records that make them laugh..and cry.

mixmag say's They shouldn't have made Absolutely Fabulous.
Neil(indignantly)"Is there a record we wish we'd never made?No!
We apply strong quility control to what we do.I thought our 'Absolutely Fabulous' record was really good.Really good and really funny!"

Chris "It was a big hit in Australia."
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

Name:Chris Lowe Job:Keyboard Genius and the Pet Shop Boy's resident Dance Fiend.
Did you Know:*1 true to form.PSBs are big fans of the new wave of dance music players. They cite Mathew Jonson,Vitalic and Tiga as current favourites.

Name:Neil Tennant Job:Singer/Songwriter and former Deputy Editor of Smash Hits.
Did you know*2 Neil Knows all about Minimal."When Chris took me to Ibiza, our Italian friends would come back chanting'meen-e-mal!."

MIXMAG Recommends.....
Pet Shop Boys 'Behaviour'
There are so many reasons to dig out this album, not least the fact that it includes four stone-cold classic singles, namely'So Hard','Jealousy','How can you expect to be taken Seriously?' and moody album opener 'Being Boring',which we still rate as their finest moment to date The Best Album of 1990.

Mixmag also state 'Minimal by Pet Shop Boys is out this month. The album 'Fundamental' will follow at the end of March
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

Favorite Rave Record..
KARIYA 'Let me love you for Tonight'(ffrr)
Chris:"Rave started a lot earlier than you think. Those records were being made in Detroit as far back as 1985 or even 1984."
Neil: "That was Detroit though."
Chris: "My favourite rave record is Kariya's 'Let me love you for Tonight'. Or 'Strings of Life'. Avant-garde yet accessible.
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

A Song For Saturday Night....
London Elektricity 'Will to Love'

Chris: "I don't understand why you DO like it!"
Neil: "The vocal is wonderful."
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

One That Makes Me Cry....
Dusty Springfield 'I don't want to hear it any More'

Neil: "The record that always makes me nearly cry is 'I don't want to hear it Anymore' by Dusty Springfield. I find it unbearably moving."

Chris: "It's a bit embarrassing to say this but it's in The Sound of Music when [the Captain] joins in on 'Edelweiss'."
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

Favourite Madonna Song....
Madonna 'Lucky Star'

Neil: "When I worked at Smash Hits I was one of the few music journalists who was interested in dance.
I got a call from Patsy at Warner Brothers who had a song from a new artist called Madonna.
'It's good but not that great.' she said. It was 'Everybody' and they gave ma a copy of her album.I immediately loved 'Lucky Star' and 'Borderline'."
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

What's the name again? You enter Aikatalo through the glass doors next to that Tunnin Kuva and then when you pass the next doors you'll see the tiny record store straight away on your right side. I'm not sure you'll fit, though, I know I don't. Bloody f***, just because I don't look like someone who plays house. I do have a fancy Technics turntable, you know
