hello.

I hope that each of you should read this, not with an end of polemic but if of reflection.

Approximately two weeks that the Prime minister of Canada took the resolution to exterminate more than 300.000 babies of seals. for 9 days babies seals die every day brutally to blows and skinned live, to commercialize his meat and his skin.

every year this happens, according to the words of the prime minister to avoid an overpopulation of seals. The slaughter, which for the Prime minister is a SOLUTION, is an inefficient and unjustified measurement, since behind all this there are economic ends..

Singer Morrisey showed his rejection to the determination of the Canadian Government, understanding that it is a measurement to generate conscience in the people, that this can't keep on happening. We do not have anything against the fans of Canada, Only with this request we want that PSB join one to the resolution of Morrisey not to concert in Canada.

Pet Shop Boys also spoke about politics now and also they spoke on the rights of homosexual in Iraq. And they repudiate and we repudiate these actions. Chris Lowe is a member of Greenpeace, it would be a finished disappointment if he will not mention anything of this.

A politician in Sweden said today that the Swedish national football team should withdraw from the World Cup in Germany. The reason? Because in Germany prostitution is legal, and during the World Cup, their business will be booming and with it, according to him, trafficking will increase. What a Swedish football team has to do with German politics, he didn't really clarify, tho.

However, I don't see how the Canadian government will be bothered by an artists decision not to perform there, BUT I've signed the petition

They should go over and play a hell of a concert. Somewhere in the middle Neill must stop the music and make a statement about it.

Staying away doesn't solve a thing, that won't make the news ask Bono he knows what to do.

I am against this too. Seals are overpopulated they say. Well China is Overpopulated and so is the rest of the world, so does that give me the right to kill enough innocent people to make thing right again? NO!!

I don't see many Canadian fans upset with the whole petition thing. Is that because they actually agree with the petition, or all 4 of them are quiet?

I live in Canada and frankly, I don't care. I live almost exactly halfway between Detroit and Toronto, so I can always go to Detroit. Still, it's a dumb idea, especially for an act with almost no visibility in North America.

Let's play devils advocate for a moment here.

The killing of seals and other marine creatures has been going on
on Canada's East Coast for centuries. Before European settlers. the
Native population sustained themselves this way.

Locals also sustain themselves this way, for those of you not familiar
with the economy of Newfoundland & Labrador, marine harvesting is
the mainstay of the economy.

If killing animals is wrong, why are millions of cows and chickens and
pigs killed each year? No one seems to care about them, and often, they
do not meet with a humane end either. Do some investigation.

This may come off as cynical, but I think it is more realistic:
If seals were hideous, nobody would care. But they're not. They're
cute.

I think this speaks to a rather bigger problem. Humans don't seem to mind
the slaughter of other humans quite so much. Same for cows, chickens and a
host of other species that are killed to make leather furniture, jackets and
keep Mc Donald's in business.

Can anyone else see the hypocrisy here? Honestly ask yourself that.
And before you ask- yes I am a Canadian.

Don't think the boys have plans to go to Canada.

As for the debate, it's my understanding that animal rights activists, anti-fur lobbyists, ect are also opposed to the killing of cows, sheep and chickens as well, so I think they do care, even though in the UK at least they don't afford the same respect to fellow mammals. It partly comes down to money as well as other things.

If Morrissey feels so strongly about animal rights he should boycott every country in the world, irrespective of whether or not he has fans there. But I guess he still needs to make a living too.

they do in the U.S.

Why wouldn't they come to Canada? It's a part of North America and, more importantly, they've performed in Canada's two largest cities - Toronto and Montreal - on all three of their world tours (Performance 1991, Nightlife 1999, Release 2002). Seriously, I would be shocked if they bypassed Canada altogether. They'd at least do Toronto.
