He's not as famous, IMHO, but he has a very loyal fanbase.

They have nothing in common, apart from both (or all 3) being very talented

I don't understand why you're asking :? It's not like PSB have an album out yet so why are you comparing?

However, I would say Morrissey has a bigger fanbase than PSB because of The Smiths!

Morrissey is clearly bigger than Pet Shop Boys. End of story.

Look at it: His album is number one in the UK. The last was number two. How well did PSB's last two albums do? His latest single went number one in the US, number 3 in the UK. He's been on the cover of every music magazine in the world within the last couple of months.

Apart from that he plays sold out concerts across the world - sellling out all venues in the UK in minutes.

And all that is even without mentioning how influential The Smiths are considered these days. And how many incredibly fanatic fans he has. How many Pet Shop Boys tattoos have you seen? I think there must be thousands of Morrissey tattoos out there.

Sorry to say it, but there's no real contest.

It was a cough that carried him off. It was a coffin they carried him off in.

Morrissey is enjoying a renaissance because 'indie' guitar groups are the new pop stars so he's more popular than he ever was. PSB are famously described as The Smiths you can dance to.

Similarly Erasure are The Smurfs you can dance to.
