I'm with stupid 3-trk CD single in the UK?

#1 Post by Tomas »

CDR 6690

1. I'm With Stupid
2. Resurrectionist
3. Girls Don't Cry

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 92-5705222

Have they changed their mind, or is just Amazon confused?

yes thats true! We have two different NL/EU discs with the same tracklisting - one (7243-5-36285-4 2) copy protected and one (CDR 6690) not. Tracklisting is the one above.

OK, but why does amazon.co.UK list the EU (3-trk) release, and not the 2-trk one?

because the 2trk "Limited" issue in slimline case will only be available in Europe! It's the same with the 7" Picture vinyl, which is an UK issue and isn't available in EU.

Sorry, but I'm confused. :D

As for CDS releases in the UK:
Will there be also a 2trk "not-limited" CDS? (If so, then I'm just surprised that Amazon UK does list no 2trk CDS at all...)
Or will there be available only a 3trk CDS? (Which is then not chart-eligible?)

I think you can have a maxi-single with b-sides as long as it's not longer than 20 mins, with mixes no longer than 40 mins!

Shayne Ward (bad example I know ) has a new single out with 3 tracks, Franz Ferdinand has a single out with 3 tracks and a remix, Arctic Monkeys singles has had 3 tracks (and they're releasing an EP with 5 tracks, don't if that would be considered chart eligible tho..)

Actually, I think that a group like Arctic Monkeys doesn't really bother whether their latest EP will be chart eligible or not because they won't even give a damn about how they might chart. Fu*k those stupid rules. It should be all about the music and releasing it and not about how many tracks on a single could be so that it can chart...

Maybe they won't but I'm sure the label will

You are certainly right but AM have a strong and massive fan base so it won't make any difference if they release a chart eligible EP or not. Sales will be still the same I think. That's a privilege. The label decided to take a careful way, though. They are going to release the EP with 5 tracks and a 2- or 3-track single (I'm not sure). However, they get sure that AM will chart. ;)

OK I thought that these days only 2trk CDS (+ DVD) is chart-eligible (PSB's last two singles CD1 were 2trk...) - but I checked the chart rules again and it is OK to combine 3trk CD and DVD.

I've got nothing against 2-track-singles but it's quite an offence that at least in Germany I found some record stores offering it for the same price as a 5-track-maxi-single. No surprise people do not buy it then.

I'm not a fan to be honest, probably because they are everywhere at the mo', but I can see why people like them and they are very talented so they do deserve all the success they've had!
