USA--Fundamental is coming!!!(a month later)
Don't know if this has been reported yet, but I work for a CD retailer in the northeast and was just emailed the new release catalog from WEA (Warner Bros) that states Fundamental and Fundamentalism are streeting in the USA on Rhino Records either June 20 or 27! It will list for 18.98 (Fundamentalism 24.98). I'm sure you'll be able to find it on sale for less. Better late than never, right?

The PSB, and especially Rhino, have been consistently guilty of very long delays between the street date of Euro releases and US releases. Depeche Mode remasters? US release delayed two months! PSB Fundamental, delayed one month! Until these guys get it right and release their products within a week of the Euro street date, I will continue to purchase the import versions.

Exactly. Unless there's an exclusive track on there somewhere I'm not going to bother getting this. If even their fans won't buy the US versions then they're in trouble!Danimal wrote:Until these guys get it right and release their products within a week of the Euro street date, I will continue to purchase the import versions.

I agree about the street date thing, but being with Rhino can hardly be worse than Sanctuary at this point, as Sanctuary tends to just put artists out there with virtually no promotion at all(anybody know about the new Charlatans UK release? Thought not). Rhino is very good at catalog releases, and seem to be wanting to make a little movement toward marketing new releases as well. At least PSB will still be backed by a major, and one that has had a little more interest in their career stateside (Bilingual & Nightlife were WEA releases). Plus, there is more news floating about that EMI is trying to purchase WEA, which would just bring the Parlophone/EMI/WEA/Rhino connection full circle. Good thing that this is happening now as opposed to eight months difference, like Goldfrapp's Supernature suffered. Fundamental does have a chance at selling in the US with such great material and a promised tour.
Europe gets screwed over for video games though, we pay loads more and often have to wait 6 or more months for releases. Also, at least in the UK, we are unable to purchase games using sites such as Amazon.com or PlayDanimal wrote: Until these guys get it right and release their products within a week of the Euro street date, I will continue to purchase the import versions.
Still waiting to hear the Adam Freeland, Manhattan Clique and Axwell mixes of Integral.

All that is for naught if no one hears it....discotex wrote:I agree about the street date thing, but being with Rhino can hardly be worse than Sanctuary at this point, as Sanctuary tends to just put artists out there with virtually no promotion at all(anybody know about the new Charlatans UK release? Lest we not forget that for Release they performed on a ton of talk shows. That got them nothing...

Not to be technical, while there have usually been delays, Disco 3 was released the day after in the UK, as it normally would be....
And I wouldn't get my hopes up for a special US edition, as they are releasing Fundamentalism in the US as well. While they might MIGHT add some tracks to the extra disc, I wouldn't get my hopes up....
I'm a sucker- I'll probably get the normal single disc US version, for I've ordered ...ism from the official site already....

I actually viewed a few of those shows recently for the first time (regis, today show, etc.) and it's easy to see why it didnt do much for the sales. "Home and Dry" is a somewhat pretty song, but it certainly doesnt entice someone to go out and buy an album. I believe that some of the tracks on Fundamental will come across much better in a live promotional performance.Lest we not forget that for Release they performed on a ton of talk shows

You're right but unless CDuniverse messed something up, they are only charaging like $18.00 for "Fundmental/Fundmentalism"! And that's the import...so should we wait.... And why isn't PSB saying anything about this? Could there be a Madonna collobration just for the US (she is on Warner Brothers)? Could be that very wishful thinking?discotex wrote:Don't know if this has been reported yet, but I work for a CD retailer in the northeast and was just emailed the new release catalog from WEA (Warner Bros) that states Fundamental and Fundamentalism are streeting in the USA on Rhino Records either June 20 or 27!
