It's difficult to understand.....

#1 Post by Nickname »

that Integral and The Sodom And Gomorrah Show are not going to be singles (according to all the sources). For me these ones are the best option, it's like the singles were be chosen by the enemy. It's something really disappointing.

I think Minimal is a good song but I have a lot of doubts this song could be understood by the general public.

Surely you don't mean the singles where chosen by that dastardly duo, Vince and Andy; is this the enemy you speak of ?

I suppose if they want to turn Integral into a potential hit then get Richard X to rework it, its got a killer melody but needs a more contemporary sounding production.

Whats not to understand about Minimal btw ? Is there some esoteric subtext that the general public won't get and consequently shun the song dooming it to a mid 30's peak chart postion. Its a simple and catchy pop record which, like pretty much all recent PSB records, will drop into the top 20 and fall out not soon after.

Sodom was supposed to be a (first) single, but the record company decited not to choose the track 'because of it's name'

I seem to think that Minimal is a wise choice for a single release, but maybe a double A-side release for the 3rd single (preferably not Numb as it will crash). Integral would be a good 3rd double A-side.

Thats an idea, release Numb and Integral as a double a-side but remix Integral.

I know and it could be one of the worse things could happen to Fundamental because they probably have chosen a worse option for single with "I'm with stupid".

I think releasing Minimal as 2nd single might be a mistake because it's the most similar track to I'm With Stupid. I'd like Luna Park or Numb to be released.

Well to be fair this has been the case since 1996 and there's no reason to expect it to change now. Whoever decided I'm with Stupid should have been the lead single out of that uninspiring trio should get sacked as well.

They should have opened with Sodom (and I'm sorry, but I simply do not believe the record company wouldn't allow it in this day and age).

In my opinion, Minimal is the most modern sounding, catchy track on the whole album and deserves to be the second single. While I think that Fundamental is easily PSB's best album since Very, it is ballad heavy and doesn't really sound of it's time. To be honest, I wish PSB would put out a whole album closer to the sound and style of Minimal because that's what they need to stay competitive and keep people interested (Minimal does sound like the fruits of the proposed but never recorded album that would have been produced by Dr. Dre's programmer). Further, I think that Numb is a great track, but other than the Diane Warren writing credit, I truly don't understand why almost any PSB ballad should be released as a single. I don't think that PSB have ever had a high charting ballad, so why the record label thinks that Numb will be different is beyond belief. And, why they balk at releasing Sodom is also equally unfathomable. At least a dozen rap records are released every week by major labels with worse titles and even worse content. Besides, Sodom and Gommorah is a biblical reference!!! Sodom or Integral would both make much better third singles than anything else on Fundamental hands down!

SODOM is the BEST single from this album. No question about it.
Neil Tennant has a great voice, Chris Lowe has great silence.

there is an anti-gay movie coming out called sodom and gomorrah sometime this year

i think its by the same people who did that kirk cameron series of movies about the end times where all the nonchristians get left behind

it might be an odd tie in to that movie
In the silence of your room
In the darkness of your dreams
You must only think of me
There can be no in between
When your pride is on the floor
I'll make you beg for more
