Minimal fundamental vs Minimal fundamentalism

#1 Post by wizboy »

While the album version of Minimal sounds absolutely great, the remix is fabulous ! The intro and the fade in drum makes it an even better track than the regular single....
any thoughts ?

Yes.

How can you say that?

The album version is perfect!!!

Lobe's done something interesting, but releasing the Lobe Mix would be ridiculous when they've got the most perfect slice of pop they've made in 15 years.

yeah.the CD version is perfection IMO. sometimes I can sort of hear when a song would do better via a remix, such as maybe sodom and gomorrah, but quite frankly PSB and trevor horn hit the nail right on the head with the CD version of minimal.

sometimes they just get it right.

I bet that the PSBs mess up the single mix of Minimal and heap loads of production gloss to it.
As it stand, Minimal is perfect.
They ruined Flamboyant a few years back when they should have just stuck with the original Pop Art version.

I always prefer the original mixes, because a remix made by "someone else" often makes the track being a track by the "someone else" instead of the original artist.
When I listen to a Pet Shop Boys song I want it to be performed by the PSB and not just Neil singing to a backing track called "DJ Culture Extended Techno Trance Dub Mix [Edit]" by... you guessed it, DJ Culture...
Then it's not a Pet Shop Boys track anymore, is it?

Well, the lobe remix sounds very much like the original version.

The Lobe remix of Minimal is one of the best in years.

Minimal by Neil and Chris is ok and is a great track as it is. The Lobe remix is more Electro/Trance and stands on its own merits.
Tiga's mix of Minimal sounds more Drum and Base, so you choose it's up to you.
Not every one will like the same tracks ..

So use you'r own Ears and Judgement forget any reviews by any one if you have the Album already just enjoy it and if you are getting it on or after the 22nd you should find something you like  ..
They make a little go along way.. very Minimal but Fundamental.

One of the things I don't like is that they don't usually include the final part on their mixes (which is maybe the best part of the song).
