new PSB fans will grow

Hi,

I am a fan since the beginning 1986.
Last days I am confincing people about the album, just by playing songs. And almost everybody adores the songs. It's not just one person, its now more then 10 people!
It's my first topic opening but this is something which in the last 20 years I never expierenced. I would say, the album does have impact.
I have posted weeks ago that mavbe this is the best album of PSB and together with fugitive and the resurrectionist, these are the best songs I have heard in ages.

I've been known to go into the pizza shop around the corner from my apartment and take over the CD player and throw in some PSB.the girls working there kinda liked minimal but I think its only because they vaguely know YMCA and they mime the letters for minimal using their arms.

The M and A is the same like in yMcA. The probleme should be the N.

Excuse my ignorance, but I never saw the whole miming-YMCA-letters thing at all, so I'm curious more than for N only.

Ask anyone that has ever worked for AutoZone or Walmart, they'll have the a,n, and m down cold (when you do the company cheers, you have to mime the letters, lol)

yeah. besides, the girls I am talking about were just having fun for like 20 seconds. its not like they were at cheerleader tryouts busting out the latest routine.

But that's a different continent!

I'm currently unable to imagine how M. N. & A. is mimed.

Each new album brings new fans. That is the good news. The bad news is that each new album also makes older fans lose interest. With the last few albums it seems that the number of people losing interest has outweighed the number of new fans. Hopefully this trend can be reversed with Fundamental since it has been MUCH better received by the fans than Release and Bilingual. Not sure about Nightlife. People were pretty enthusiastic about that album in 1999, even if they aren't enthusiastic about it anymore.

Needless to say, they are cheating a bit with A, omitting "-" between / and \

Inspired by the picture, I thought about N - it might me done so that left arm is in 45° angle (down) to the body, and the hand in 135° angle up...

With all respect, NYET, but the new PSB album hardly has any impact in the Netherlands. We, as die-hard fans, can try to convince friends, who might eventually buy a handful of copies, but the real work should be done by a record label and by Pet Shop Boys themselves. Who both refuse to do so.

As you know, Pet Shop Boys aren't promoted in the Netherlands at all. Their last purely promotional visit to the Netherlands was in 1988. In fact Neil even answered a question about it, in the past: The Netherlands has always been a weak market for us, his answer was. And that's it, basically. So far I didn't see any attempts to change it.

Recently, somebody here posted an internal EMI memo about Fundamental promotion. In the Top 8 of target countries, Germany, UK, USA, Spain and some other countries were listed. Not the Netherlands. Also during their summer festival tour schedule, they don't perform here.

I even sent an e-mail to Dutch Radio 2 (the biggest radio station in this country) requesting to follow the good example of BBC Radio 2, and make PSB 'album of the week', since they also did so with Madonna. I don't think my request will be rewarded, though.

Please learn to live with the fact that PSB are totally down the dumper (or better said: completely forgotten) here, and that it's partly (not fully) their own fault AND wish. So, no new fans in our country, forget about it, move on and enjoy the great new PSB album.

I'll let you in on a secret. I only became a really big fan upon hearing Miracles by chance on Radio 2 at the hotel I used to work at.

I was blown away by it and turned the volume right up in the room I was tidying. After that I bought PopArt, then all the albums before it starting with Please. Now they are my favourite music act!

And I'm only 22, so well within the Radio 1 'target audience' that PSB apparently aren't relevant to.

Actually I've heard a few quotes from ex fans like "return to form" and "best album for ages" so actually I'd be quite hopeful on the old fans front...
