EMI happy with Fundamentalsales?

#1 Post by wieske »

With how many Fundamental-copies sold would EMI/Parlophone be happy do you think?

I read somewhere that EMI expected 100.000 Fundamental copies to be sold in U.K.

I think we're getting close to the figure? Haven't they sold like 90.000 copies so far?

Yep, joncool is right. 36 000 copies after two weeks: 26 000 on the first week, 10 000 on the second. So in order to reach that 90 000 they desperately need another hit: if Minimal proves to be a typical fans-only second single, Fundy will have a hard time reaching 100 000.

For comparisons sake, this is what Music Week wrote in April about Depeche Mode's latest album: "Despite the fact that all three singles from the album have made the Top 20, Playing The Angel has performed very modestly by Depeche Mode standards, spending four weeks in the Top 75 (6-20-42-73) last October and remaining absent ever since, with modest cumulative sales of 80,133 to date."

Currently Fundamental is on a practically identical trajectory. Unless Minimal manages to lure in some new buyers, it will also fall out of 75 after 4 or 5 weeks.

Long way to go if it´s only UK sales.

Damn, I was sure they were around 90.000 copies....I was obviously wrong :(

Well, as long as they keep releasing albums, I don't care :D

But, for Heaven sake, I bloody HATE our three-years timeline. Can't they speed it up please?
