Neil overseeing Rufus Wainwright's new album
From the official site:
Rufus and Neil - 9 August 2006
For the past week, Neil has been in Berlin and has been working as consultant producer on Rufus Wainwright's new album.
Pet Shop Boys first met Rufus Wainwright in 2000 when they both perfomed at the Human Rights Concert in Washington DC and have remained in touch since. Rufus sang "Casanova in Hell" at the Mermaid Theatre concert in May and this version will appear on the live "Concert" album in September. He is producing his new album himself but earlier this year asked Neil if he would help to oversee the production. The album is due for release early in 2007.

How intriguing!
Another album worth buying then. And is this what PSB are going to be doing when they stop writing themselves do we think?
Even though I hope their music plays forever.

What makes you think PSB will stop writing soon? The boys still knock out great songs and if they ever decide to stop with the band Pet Shop Boys, I think they will continue as writers and producers for other artists.Being boring wrote:How intriguing!

I'm curious how Neil's influence will sound.

Pffft. Instead of writing for someone else, I wish they'd write for themselves and drop a 'nice' PSB album for us fans (after the Tours etc)... rather than have to wait for a while. Now,* that* would have been a nice treat. Not overly bothered by Rufus (whose version of Casanova was pretty crap as well).

Hehehehe I wouldn't be surprised either. It's very Neil !Darkmoon wrote:He'll probably sneak in some of his vocals again no doubt
Dunno about Madonna, but I heard a different story about Bowie. I think Neil sang this second verse as a suggestion to Bowie. Since Hello Spaceboy had only one verse, Neil created a second one, sang the guide vocal and sent it to Bowie. Apparently Bowie liked it so much that the song ended up becoming a duet.Jareth wrote:David Bowie and Madonna both said they were surprised to find his vocals in their mixes.

From Geowayne's site:

Bowie was reportedly rather concerned at first about this interpolation, but then agreed that it worked well after all. (In a radio interview at the time, Bowie apparently said that he loved what the Boys had done to his song, although when he first heard the second verse, he felt that Neil had shown some "nerve" to "chop up" his lyrics and then sing them himself.)
