LIVE or MIME ?

#1 Post by Actually »

Which performance's do you think Chris actually plays the Keyboard live ?
I know the performance's on TOTP were done by miming, as everyone elses were. That was part of success of the show.
What about Performance?
There is no way that hand held keyboard Chris was using for some of the songs was plugged into the rig. You can tell Chris was playing live to Jealousy & Always on my mind. What about Somewhere? Was Chris playing tiddly winks? Head phones made it look real though. Same again for Nightlife. I know Pet Shop Boys music is done by computers, hey, that's why we love them but the image has always been singer & keyboard player. I love seeing their rig on stage,it's no secret that all or some of the music is generated that way.The Release performance's, why have the sheet music for that show only. Tennant/Lowe are masterminds with their music.

I think Chris decides what he wishes to play - for example on the nightlife tour he played the bass line live. Anyway would you rather see chris running round a bank of 20 keyboards and pressing buttons!

The music is programmed and the times I have seen the boys live it has sounded fantastic so crisp and loud.

Who gives a shit if he plays or mimes, as long as the music is good and we enjoy the show.

If I paid to see somebody live, I would expect them to perform live!

I think that surely there is no concert where he totally mimes is there? Surely he plays something at all concerts cos it sure as hell must be boring otherwise.

I used CD / MD for a few gigs when I was lazy a while ago and quickly reverted to playing the CDs / Records because it was sooo bloody boring just standing there!

Then again I'm not Chris am I?

I believe it was Chris that said in the "Somewhere" DVD that some of it is on tape, like Neil says in the "Yesterday when I was mad" song and then some is live.

He said "It´s ALL on tape" and that he´s only pretending.
Interviewer:
-What would you tell someone about yourself if you wanted to impress them?

Chris:
-I´ve got a 12-inch plonker.

HE was joking. Like he always does. Actually it was Pete Gleadall that said some of it was on tape and some was live.
