Catalogue in UK?

#1 Post by herts101 »

Just received an email today from Amazon telling me it has been delayed by 4-6 weeks, yet clearly it is out in the US already.

Anyone managed to buy a copy in the UK, online or offline?

I emailed Amazon yesterday (as stated in another post). Just received their reply this morning. I'm in London at the weekend, so I'd be interested to know whether any of the bookshops are stocking it. If they are, I'll get it and cancel my Amazon order.

Dear Customer

Thank you for writing to Amazon.co.uk with regard to your order #***********

I realise that you have been greatly inconvenienced by this
situation. This is unacceptable and is not what we want you to expect
from us. Please accept my apology in this regard.

We have found that there is a delay with "Pet Shop Boys" Catalogue".

We have passed your enquiry to our ordering department who will
determine if there is going to be a longer delay with our supplier,
or if this delay is just short term.

We normally obtain this item from a supplier who can usually send it
to us within 4-6 weeks as listed on our web site. However, in this
case, the supplier took longer than expected to respond to us, and
we do apologize for that.

Our suppliers have proven over time to offer a very efficient and
reliable service. However, we are very aware that as a company we
rely heavily on the suppliers to supply our customers with their
items, and that any delay during the process such as this reflects
badly on us.

Please rest assured that we have asked our ordering department to
look into this situation further to see if it is still possible to
obtain a copy for you. Once we receive a copy from the publisher we
will dispatch it without further delay.

They've given me a £3 voucher by way of an apology.

Lee

We don't actually know the official release date, do we? I certainly don't.

On the Waterstones website it says :

Format: Hardback 336 pages
Date of publication: 09/10/2006
Publisher: Thames & Hudson Ltd
ISBN: 9780500513071

Although the WHSmith website says October 1st!

I bought one today in Waterstones in Leeds. £29.95, but it has a £4 off sticker, so you get it for £25.95 and you also get a free poster.

Waterstone's in Kingston has received it yet, although they expect it "in the next few days"...

Borders in Kingston told me that it's not published until the 23rd October. They have ten on order and won't be selling them until the publication day...

I forgot how much retailers lie to their customers...

The official website, always up-to-date as we know  , lists the book's publication date, as 16 October.

Ref Suburban Boy's reply from Amazon -

'apologize' ?! Pretty sure that's an American word isn't it? So much for Amazon.co.uk...
