"Ignore button"

#1 Post by Joemoz »

From another thread:

Isn't it possible to add an 'Ignore' button next to the username? So that you don't see their posts or the threads they create if you feel they contribute nothing of interest whatsoever? I've seen that on other forums - very useful. And everyone would benefit from not having to listen to people constantly complaining about other posters' moronic comments.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks there are certain posters they would be happy never to hear from again - and if somebody should be very offended by my contributions it would be nice to know that they could just ignore me.

can include this feature in seconds, cause we already have it in the German forum.

The reason, why I didn't include it here was the fact, that we had a big discussion about it in the German forum. Obviously some of the people didn't understand, why I included the feature there.... and was not amused about it!

So all in all, will speak to Steve and Dave about it!

Well I personally used to be against such a thing but after the number of pointless postings I have seen in the last few days I now say "can we have it as soon as possible".

The consensus of opinion is that we're going to install it. Not perhaps something we'd have wanted to do initially in the ideal world, but the fact is that not everyone gets on with everyone else and that won't realistically ever change.

Steffen will, I'm sure, install it in due course.

yes, but it's a bit tricky! Try to ignore yourself and you will find the link to your ignore list on the next page. Or you simple bookmark this link:

ignore.php

Thanks, Steffen. I asked because the ignore button is next to the quote one, and you can ignore someone by accident. You can even ignore yourself by accident trying to edit your own posts!

I had seized this function today, but posts of ignored person just has been effaced with obliteration's message, not removed from threads/my view. I expected an more cardinal effect ...
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

What a pity.

can't see how to do this, cause you can't delete complete posts. The software just can hide them! And thats okay I think!
