The One Word Album Title Tradition

#1 Post by Radiophonic »

Do you think it's time that any new album releases drop the 'one word title' thingummybob?

Should this be a tradition they could now drop? Has it outlived it's function? Or should it always continue? :?:

I mean: was PopArt actually a cop out?

Twoism would be a good title, but Boards of Canada have already used this title for one of their EPs.

No, surely, title for tenth album should continue this years so long conception, there is no reason to break it now. Perhaps, they should make a step forward from "one-word" to the "one-symbol", just image to yourself - Pet Shop Boys ? (especially, if 10th would have a low success :P)...
"I think it’s an amazingly good album, I’ve got to be honest with you. It’s one of the albums I feel most proud of. But for people who don’t really know us, and have a sort of an idea about us, ‘Electric’ is more what the Pet Shop Boys are meant to be."
(Neil Tennant, speaking about "Elysium" on the eve of "Electric" release.)

Don't drop the tradition now. That would be a pity.

I sometimes wondered about that. It would explain the comma.

Didn't they originally intend "That's The Way Life Is" to be the title of Bilingual? I'm so glad they changed their mind, because not only would they have broken their one word tradition, but because it's also a terrible title.

One-word album titles are cool, let it continue!
