James Whale
Controversial presenter James Whale was fired from TalkSport today for breaking OFCOM rules. So kind of his own fault. I am a bit pissed really, I liked James Whale's show occasionally and sometimes he's had some interesting discussions, especially in areas of World Governments etc. So that's another person willing to have views silenced. At least Richard Bacon's still going (<-sarcasm)...

Apparently there were a mere 3 complaints to OFCOM that got him fired!! How ridiculous!
I listened to him all the time and didn't even know he was suspended the last few months.
A shame as he was a guy with the balls to speak up about any and everything. A rarity these days. I'm sure he'll be back in some shape or form and Ive seen on his website that he has done some podcasts to download.
Talksports loss as far as I am concerned and I certainly will not be listening to any of the other presenters who are piss poor in compairison.

A great guy who has the balls to say it how it is.
I remember listening to him on Red Rose Radio, broadcast from Preston in 1987. He had a phone in show then too, and would give all the listeners that called up, the full force of his opinions.
Don't be surprised if you see him make an appearance on his own TV show again soon ...

He didn't get fired because of the complaints, he got fired for breaking broadcasting rules during an election.sneakythesnake wrote:Only 3 complaints!!JSDOUVRES wrote:Apparently there were a mere 3 complaints to OFCOM that got him fired!! How ridiculous!

On another forum, I wrote:I've never been a fan of Whale's show. The rotation of a few dull hobby horses (religion, the BBC, the Royal Family), the honking on the horn and the "Ahhhhhhhhhhm" signposting of when he thought he'd said something ever so clever and funny irritated me in the early days; that he was still doing it, years later, whenever I heard him more recently, didn't persuade me to tune in regularly.
