system malfunction at HostEuropes server farm in Cologne...

#1 Post by TheGardner »

...around 1pm today!

During a short in one of the sub-distributions of HostEuropes cooling circuits, an entire server room was taken offline because of too high temperatures.

An additional problem occured on the posts table of the forum, which was marked as crashed and I really was scared all our posts we did since the beginning could be lost.
But seems this also is solved now!

We really need an archive that is saved from this kind of thing. We've already lost Dot, Host, S*y, and Aimoo - and a year of this place. We're like virtual amnesiacs.

I had an daily backup, which was running four times a day (at 3am, 9am, 3pm and 9pm), so we only would lost six hours of stuff in the bad case.
But a couple of weeks ago, they don't let me run this backup script anymore! Now after the failure today I'm thinking about another way to have a backup by myself!

HostEurope also is doing a backup, but I won't count on them - just to be save if they could abandon me.
