Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video

#1 Post by Deschanel »

I know people either love or hate her or aren't sure.. I just really enjoyed this visually interesting video. Creepy, stylish, odd, it's plenty to look at, and I'm glad she's trying to do something interesting with a video. Doesn't seem like many others are these days. Love the McQueen shoes. She actually looks pretty in some shots without makeup here. Or sinister and grotesque in others. Like it.

The more I hear her songs, the more I realize it's just mid 90s generic dance dressed up with a bit of urban dressing and dark clubbiness for the kids...decent
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

Ah, I know, that's what everyone seems to be saying, and it's true. But you know what, dance music on the pop side hasn't changed that much in 15 years, i think, except for adding some dumb rapper over it. I'm not a huge Gaga fan, but she's said she wants to be Top 40, she wants to be subversive through the mass media like Warhol.
That might sound silly, but it's not a bad strategy. Let's face it, pop music used to be fun and exciting- the US charts are such wastelands of crap, I'll gladly take Gaga trying something different over contest winners and strippers.

I think you said what I should have said, and probably did it better. Bravo.

Well, boys ~ GaGa is a guilty pleasure for me. And I love this song & video a lot. This girl has Balls. And she's giving it all she's got. She reminds me a bit of N&C in their yellow & pink Bowler hats -- but on steroids!
Ya know = I bet Pete Burns is seething over the fact that she achieves so many different guises without benefit of a Surgeon's knife .....
I like it here ~~ wherever it is ...

its a well shot video, but theres seriously so much happening there that it gets a bit much. the mcqueen bit was the best and also some great visuals of that bear dress and that cat like crawl with tons of jewelry. but I didnt think it was memorable like papparazi *her best video so far*

but gaga is a fun entertainer and really quite brave. She's definelty the highlight of 2009. I'm surely getting her re-release monster or whatver it is called
Left to my own devices, I probably would...

The video's interesting and different.
I kept being reminded of Marilyn Manson whilst watching it though! Some of his videos were a bit weird too.

Whats this about her album being re-issued? What extras will you get..

I'm loving this song, just can't help myself! She's been called the new Madonna, but I'm starting to notice more Mylene Farmer in her. She playing with grotesque and ugly imagery in the way that's always been Mylenes trademark. It's of course something new for an American female pop-icon to do. The song is obviously a sequel to "Poker Face" so there's a one trick pony feeling to her, but a good song is a good song. She certainly is becoming more and more intresting.

Her previous singles were just ok, but I'm mad about "Bad Romance", it's a great pop song. The video has too much thing happening, but it's really good too.

I think she's giving away some of her hair with each copy. I'm not sure where from though.

No that's not true. :shhh: She's releasing a double album called Fame Monster, cd1 being her debut album, and cd2 an album with 8 new songs.

I can't stop listening to this song, it's so catchy.
I dont like much modern music, find alot of it boring, too many r'n'b singers etc.. but I like her, she puts effort into her image and its really interesting. Plus she is talented, there are youtube videos of her singing and playing piano, she's really good!
I imagine her live show would be good to see.

The song really is like crack, I must've played it 45 times this weekend. It's like, concentrated pop pleasure. Next week I'll be sick of it, but it's really well done. Interesting that the verses sound dark and sexy and sinister, then the chorus sounds very bright and commercial, something Britney could have sung.
