Just got back from Ultravox @ Birmingham...

...and they were superb. Got some crappy mobile recordings of 6 or 7 songs, but I am sure much better footage is being uploaded to YouTube as we speak (there were enough people clearly recording on their phones!).

So pleased to have had chance to see them live - after missing out through ill health last year I thought I'd missed out for good. Here's hoping that this second tour isn't 'The end'.

What I have heard of Ultravox (and it's not much) I didn't care for at all. As a PSB fan who enjoys the 80s stuff the most, what album or songs would you recommend I try of theirs?
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

I'd struggle to recommend a handful of tracks as there are so many good Ultravox songs. For a decent grounding, I'd consider the recent 'The very best of Ultravox' CD & DVD, or otherwise 'The collection' on CD.

Anyone who professes to like 80's music can't (IMHO) fail to like them. They are amongst the Gods of early electronic / synth music, if a bit more 'rock' than some.

I didn't even know they'd got back together. I saw them in 1981.
