My impression of Erasure is that Andy only makes these solo albums because Vince can't really be arsed anymore. Their new album was meant to have been out by now but they've barely entered the truck yet. He wasn't making solo albums in 1988, and the minute we get a Neil Tennant solo album we can expect that the end is nigh. The Noel Coward album is probably the closest Neil's come to a solo album, and that was at a time when PSB were most vulnerable to splitting up if rumours are to be believed.

Erasure make fairly disposable pop anyway (and I don't mean that in a pejorative way) but an Andy Bell solo album replete with Andy Bell lyrics and no Vince synths is like being stuck in the most garishly designed gay nightclub on over-40s night with s t e p h a n o dj-ing and poppers permanently wedged up both nostrils.

Plenty of people make music because they enjoy it, wether it's good or bad but in Bell's case, he still craves the limelight and is desperate for success, therefore, he needs to do better than this. It's half arsed and goes nowhere. I remember him moaning on Loose Women that the media attention dried up totally and rather quickly, too. He longed to be a media darling but the media didn't care for him. I've read that some think Vince needs Bell more than Bell needs Vince. Thats utter garbage. Andy Bell is a very good singer but thats about it. You can pick these up anywhere.

I'm just curious, did you two sit through the album? It sounds like you listened to 1 1/2 tracks and just kind of made your judgment based on what you already thought of Bell and Erasure.

I've also heard the singles and i tried to listen to all the tracks but i found myself turning each and everyone off after 30 seconds - 1 minute. They are rubbish.

What i thing of Bell is immaterial. The songs are shit.

As for my opinion on Erasure, I think Pop 20 has some wondeful tracks on it. Brilliant pop music. Doesn't mean i wont have an honest opinion for each album and track. Their input has been awful for years. Just an honest opinion. Doesn't mean i don't like them. If their next album is good, i'll say so.

Ahhh well, it's a just a shame that no one really cares what you think, then.

It's pretty easy to tell if a song is poor from the off. There are plenty of songs on albums that you might not like straight away but most of the time you can hear if it's well produced and has good lyrics. Therefore you hope it's a grower and will give it a chance. These 'songs' on Non Stop are neither well produced nor have very good lyrics. They are rubbish. You just know whats coming. Songs pining for a shag, being dumped or droaning on about the moon.

Production sounds perfectly decent to my ears, not that I'm in love with the album. In fact, compared to Erasure production, it's excellent.

And I can't disagree more that you can listen to 1 minute of a track and decide it's trash. The first couple times I sat through Release I thought it was the worst CD I had heard. That's really not an exaggeration. I understand the tendancy to want to say, oh, this doesn't sound good, but you then come on here and slag it off. Seriously, give it 4 or 5 listens all the way through, and then you're free to say what you want to say about it.

It's sad that no one else wants to comment on this album than a couple of old blokes who purposely want to shag off Bell and Erasure (despite claims to the contrary).

I tried to find the lyrics, to see how "bad" they are. But no one has them yet that I can find. On most of the tracks I don't even know what they lyrics are, because it's not a focus of the music. The focus is on the overall sound of the dance track.

What if I put on The Way It Used To Be and heard "I'm here........you're there.....come closer....tonight I'm lonely" and thought, oh...what a bunch of lookin' at the moon bein dumped mumbo crapo? It's not like those are great lyrics. Or how about the start of Love Etc..."boy it's tough getting on in the world when the sun doesn't shine and a boy needs a girl"..really really weak. You may think I'm wrong and that these lyrics are really great, but they are vulnerable, vulnerable, to being crappy.

Lets also not forget the first minute of All Over The World "it's something, that look in your eyes tonight, like magic, it changes everything in sight". Very profound. Much better than Erasure/Bell.

and lets not forget that brilliantly proudced track with those great lyrics: "I wanna live like beautiful people, give like beautiful people, with my beautiful people around, i wanna live like beautiful people, give like beautiful people, with my beautiful people around". Total genius.

Blllooobbby, Mr Blobby. You see, you knew that was going to be crap after 5 seconds. I didn't need to listen to anymore.

Your examples are appalling. You are completly losing it. 'The Way It Used To Be' Sounded great from the very beginning. All these tracks on Non Stop sound like they have been put through a mixing program in the Amiga. Sorry but it's rubbish IMO. I may not have given the other songs a full listen but i've heard the singles in full and they are poor. I'm not about to waste anymore of my time listening to crap. However, if i start to read any decent reviews on here from members i respect, maybe i'll give it another chance.
