What is the audience for the Killers?

#1 Post by York Minster »

Simple question. The Killers have been many things. Post-80s revival, roots rock, slightly emo post-punk/pop, synthrock, etc etc. Don't they confuse most of their fans at some point? Strangely, I like most all of it. Except the awful Chrstimas song with Elton and Neil.
And tryin' to figure out what happened to 'Germaine Propaine'
"He couldn't have fell off that hard" Ain't no way
"What happened to the way you was rappin' when you was scandalous
That Canibus turned into a television evangelist"
Plus he raps with his regular voice [BOOSH! BOOSH!]
[BOOSH! BOOSH!] (What was that?) Pet Shop Boys

the PSB have been electronic,techno,country,rock,disco.
I dont know, I like variety but over a long career. I'm not sure if I would like a band I really loved to in a short time span to be all over the place as if they are experimenting just to see if they can pull a style off.

but not being a fan of the killers I cant really judge.

The Killers/Flowers are way broader than PSB in the first 7 years of their career. Electronic and techno are enough of the same thing. PSB aren't really country, they only add a bit here and there, and it's still electro. They aren't really rock. Disco again is electronic music generally, or in the old days strings. The Killers totally change genres at times. Somebody Told Me and When You Were Young are very different sounding songs, and could potentially appeal to very very different audiences. I don't think you can say that of Two Divided By Zero vs I Want To Wake Up vs Domino Dancing vs Being Boring vs Can You Forgive Her.

I'm a big enough Killers fan to go see them live.
That's it, it's all over. We're out of here. What a Legacy! (c) Chris Lowe 2009
