I quite like it. Not far from what you'd normally expect from New Order.
I wish they'd reunite and come back.

So so. I loved the Technique album but not really a fan since then.

It's not too bad, but like most of the Sirens stuff, it seems to promise a lot, but comes up short. Not an era I'm too fond of, and it sadly shows that the tank was running dry.

Republic was decent too but apart from the odd single - Crystal and Here to Stay - there's not a huge amount to recommend the material after they reformed.

Oh, I bought the Regret CD single, but I didn't invest further in the album. I took a C90 tape of Technique and Holly Johnson's Blast! with me to Sitges in 1989 and they both hold special memories for me.

Republic's an excellent pop album. I used to play it all the time with Very.

I'm familiar with that song too, it must be on the greatest hits. I like that vid.

Yeah, it's a classy video. Love the cameos. Republic's their most *pop* album; that's why it gets slagged off by lots of New Order fans. I always associate it with Very; both came out in 1993, have a very slickly produced power-pop sound, and there's even a track called Young Offender on each album.

I think you could make a case for Neil influencing the album in a funny kind of way. It really is their only truly *pop* album (as opposed to the New Wave indie-dance of the early albums, Balearic beats of Technique, and erm, dad-rock of the later years) and it's no coincidence that it followed the Electronic collaboration. Didn't Bernard call Neil Dr. Pop or something?

Sigh, nice.. A year later I bought Behaviour in Sitges, it was the soundtrack of my extended off-season stay there that September. Listened to it often with almost all British semi ex-pats, they were intrigued. Special memories of SItges and music, I can relate. Lovely town.


And yeah, Republic and most especially "Regret" and its remixes -brilliant- was better than they get credit for. Mostly. Noy as good as Very by any stretch. Imho. Not a hit I gather. How strange they both had a "Young Offender". Purposeful? I know which one I like better.
